Would you support an internet law like this?
The new law bans messages that "incite or promote hatred," "foment citizens' anxiety or alter public order," "disrespect authorities," "encourage assassination," or "constitute war propaganda,"

6. I'm not anti-Chavez
I admire a lot of what he's done, but this law is chilling.

7. none but assassination
I think it is already against the law to promote the murder of anyone. I think it should be illegal if it isn't.

But a ban of the others would be a violation of our basic human rights to free speech.

8. HELL no.
There will always be hatred. Trying to stifle it through censorship is the LEAST likely method to combat as much as we can.

Respect authority? When they earn it.

War propaganda? Who decides what is propaganda? Your (not you specific, OP, but general 'you') propaganda is another person's Just War.

And most importantly of all, 'foment citizen anxiety'?! Telling a story about a Wal-Mart manager is 'fomenting citizen anxiety'.

10. Using criminal process for this sort of thing is wrong.
But it's a really, really common mistake.
