Re Wisconsin as "non-news" -- If you really want to send a message to corporate-press ...
TURN OFF THE TV'S --

BETTER YET -- PUT THEM IN THE CLOSET --

DON'T WORRY -- VERY QUALIFIED PEOPLE WILL BE MONITORING THESE NETWORKS/SHOWS

FOR YOU --

IF THERE IS NO AUDIENCE, THERE IS NO WAY TO SELL ADVERTISING SPACE --

GIVE IT A WEEK OR SO --

1. I've never had cable in my life
And haven't watched TV at all in a decade.

If you're reading this, you have an internet connection. That means you can find all sorts of other ways to inform and entertain yourself. Ways that are interactive and educational and that help stimulate your brain, as opposed to a one way depositing of propaganda like that other glowing screen. Also you can meet people!

K&R!

5. It's startling how little reaction there is to this thread ... considering how unhappy DU'ers are
in recognizing the no-coverage situation for anti-war and Wisconsin!!

It's as though this is something they just can't bring themselves to face --

however, we have to keep on trying to get more DU'ers to understand that the

corporate-press is not their friend and never will be!! Just the opposite!!

HELP!!

:)

2. maybe we just have to stop treating the MSM as the scoreboard
The goal should not be to get lots of old media cable news coverage. And we should not evaluate the success of an on-going struggle by the amount of airtime it gets on the old media.

I think the goal is to protect the last good jobs in America and get this country turned around. We need to offer a more positive vision of the future and of America because that is what people will ultimately rally around.

4. First, it's not "MSM" ... it's corporate-press -- and they're not your friend -- !!
They are not only profiting from corporatism/fascism -- they are actively

working on delivering it.

And more -- they are not questioning the corruption of government because they

are part of it -- part of fostering it -- and protecting it.

In fact, right wing press is a "scoreboard" in a sense --

the more dangerous uprisings are to corporatism, the less you will see of them on

corporate-press. The very reason the right wing has to control all of "media" --

and I include publishing houses in that, etal -- is because any actual challenge

or questioning of right wing activites is a danger to them.

TRUTH and liberal challenges are a huge threat -- like a pebble hitting a mirror --

it shatters right wing myth!

All of this right wing movement is fiction --

from the GOP giving start up funding to the Christian Coalition in the 1980's --

to Richard Scaife funding Dobson's organization -- and other rw wealthy, Bauer's group.

NRA agenda was perverted by GOP/rw money to use for targeting liberals and moderates in

both the Dem and Repug parties.

GOP/"Pro-life" groups hired patients from methadone clinics to protest at women's clinics.

Violent attacks on women's clinics were financed by white militia groups --

GOP's Supreme Court kept these charges from being applied to these groups -- never calling

them "domestic terrorists" and never charging them under RICO laws.

Today's T-BAGGERS were created/funded by Koch Bros. and run out of Freedom Works -- Dick

Armey's PR firm, guaranteeing them publicity.

On and on --

Not to mention that the voting computers have been with us since the late 1960's --

I'd question every election back to Nixon/Humphrey!

See: Votescam - The Stealing of America --

http://www.constitution.org/vote/votescam__.htm

This is the result of an investigation of voting machines carried out by two Florida

journalists in the late 1960's when they began to realize the very unlikely election

results being delivered by computers.

3. Cut cable >10 years ago...
just keep a tiny portable digital tv to watch on rare occasions--whatever I can get from rabbit ears, if I can't stream it online somewhere later.

But, yes, I wish we could have a collective 'strike' against the network and cable "news" channels.
