6. That doesn't work.

Tried it. Changed my password so I wouldn't inadvertently click on one of the gizillion little 'F' icons scattered across the web like the French Pox.

Got a note from a friend a good two months later informing me that my FB page was still up.

Writing them a nasty note and demanding they delete the account worked, but I had to reset my damned password and sign back in to do it - making the account active again until they finally got around to deleting it.

I despise those people.

I also cancelled Facebook. There is a way to do it via the Help section.

Click delete and submit. Apparently, the trick to it working is--don't keep going back to your account to see if it worked! Any activity on your account, and the deletion will be canceled. It takes 2 weeks, apparently, so don't peek for two weeks.
