Mo. Republican bill to eliminate many child labor laws...
http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/mo-state-sen-jane-cunninghams-bizarre-b

"The critics point to the bill's official summary:

"This act modifies the child labor laws. It eliminates the prohibition on employment of children under age 14. Restrictions on the number of hours and restrictions on when a child may work during the day are also removed. It also repeals the requirement that a child aged 14 or 15 obtain a work certificate or work permit in order to be employed. Children under 16 will also be allowed to work in any capacity in a motel, resort or hotel where sleeping accommodations are furnished. It also removes the authority of the director of the Division of Labor Standards to inspect employers who employ children and to require them to keep certain records for children they employ. It also repeals the presumption that the presence of a child in a workplace is evidence of employment."

Cunningham's objections extend to the current law's requirement that children 14 or 15 work no more than three hours a day on school days, no more than eight hours on a non-school day, and that they cannot work before 7 a.m. or after 9 p.m.

"The hour restrictions are so tight,'' she said. "There are many jobs where you can work after 9 p.m.,'' such as restaurants.

She also objects to allowing the state's director of Labor Standards to walk into businesses to check on their employment of children."

You know.. these laws are in place for a reason. It's not like people just woke up one day and threw these laws together, they were needed because people were abusing child labor.

Fucking Republicans.

3. Their next step is to eliminate education altogether (except for the wealthiest 1%) - just
watch and see if I'm not right about that.

They want to turn the clock back to before the Civil War and I never thought it could happen but I'm seeing it happen before my very eyes.

I truly believe we will see a return to outright slavery within the next decade or so.

We are so fracked.

6. I have been thinking the same thing about slavery...
There is currently de facto slavery in many places around the world. In fact, I think there recently was a family convicted in Long Island--

GARDEN CITY, NY-- Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani and his wife, Varsha Mahender Sabhnani have been indicted on slavery charges. The millionaire couple allegedly held two Indonesian women captive in their Long Island home.

Tuesday's indictment charged the pair with two counts of forced labor as well as two counts of harboring illegal residents. The couple pleaded not guilty, and a judge set bail at $3.5 million

It seems that there is a certain type of person (Republicans and their ilk) who just aren't satisfied until they can enslave their fellow humans. The idea of paying minimum wage makes them angry, then the thought that they have to pay anything obsesses them. Then they start complaining about how much it costs to maintain the slaves with food and shelter.

4. Both women and men can be child abusers
as this woman proves.

what a low life worthless woman. she should be ashamed of herself - but I guess you have to actually care about children to be ashamed and, obviously, this women doesn't give a shit about this nation's children.

who elected her? SHAME ON THEM.

5. I am in MO
I contacted my state rep. about this. How backward! And I really hate it when a politician says something like \"the parents can do this better than the gov\'t\"......THEN WHY ARE YOU WORKING FOR THE GOV\"T!!! Ugh!
I can see poor families pushing their kids to work and then doing worse at school (oh, yeah I know that is what they want).

I repeat your sentiments :FUCKING republicans (arrrggghhhh)
