I read all these idiotic and really crazy laws being proposed by republicans
in all levels of government-The House passes a bill cutting funding from the Social Security organization, which would force it to close for a month at least...

Georgia legislature is entertaining a bill requiring President Obama to prove he was born in the US in order to be on teh ballot in 2012...

Here in PA, the GOP controlled legislature is working on a bill to repeal a law enacted last year controlling puppy mill dog breeders, noted for animal cruelty and overbreeding of unhealthy dogs...

Wisconsin...

Question: Is there ANY republican anywhere in US government at any level who is serious about running this country and trying to help the unemployed and poor?
Or is it all a joke and political game with them?

I have not heard of a real, honest effort by ANY REPUBLICAN to do anything good for our country since they won in November...did I miss it?

1. I don't think it's a joke to them.
I think they are deadly serious about bringing our form of government down.

2. That's a base canard that Republicans aren't serious about running the country.
They're obviously very serious about running it into the ground.

5. Who is deliberately sowing chaos? I'm not clear on who's being
accused of that in your post.

6. This is what happens after what Reagan said,
when he said that he didn't trust the government to do anything right. He then went on to prove it. Now these idiots get into office, and must prove that government can do nothing right as well.

We have to stop electing people who say that government can do no good... They will only prove it when they get into office.

9. Yes- I am recalling several republicans from the pre-Newt era who,
while still republicans, were at least decent people with a real interest in the good of this country.

I see almost none of that now, and as you say, the few good ones remaining are targets of the right wing crazies in the next election.

A whole congress full of Bachmanns and Boehners...and worse?

Not a comforting thought.

10. I've given up on even considering the TeaPubliKlans as a political party.
They are straight up a terrorist criminal syndicate dedicated to undermining self determination and peace world wide.

to destroy everything in their path...

14. We had the worst session EVER here in Wyoming.
Really bad, even by our own Repub stantards. Here's an opinion piece about it.

It's been discouraging, time-wasting session
Wyoming legislators had plenty of important issues on their plate as they began this session, beginning with what they need to spend money on and how much they should save.

But as we feared, many thus far have chosen to focus on divisive social issues including abortion and same-sex marriage or matters where they really don’t have the power to do anything.

And when they have worked on substantive issues, they’ve reached conclusions that were often questionable or flat-out wrong.
****
One of the reasons behind the lackluster effort has been the insistence of some lawmakers that the Legislature concentrate on making political statements against the federal government.

Ironically, some of the same legislators who practically foam at the mouth at the intrusiveness of the federal government are the same ones who demand that the state control the reproductive choices of women in Wyoming. Apparently they either fail to see their own hypocrisy or don’t care, as long as their religious values prevail.

They also want to regulate personal relationships, even considering a bill (and fortunately rejecting it) that would have required a certain amount of counseling before marriage or divorce.

16. Republicans traditionally have never had the
welfare of the individual citizen in mind. What amazes me is that they get voted into office especially today where nutjobs like Bachmann and Governor Walker get elected. Back in my salad days, we had wackos like Barry Goldwater and others on the fringes of politics, but that's where they stayed, on the fringes. The Republicans that did get elected were more like Olympia Snowe who kept a common sense approach to their politics and who actually weren't hell bent on ruining the economy and overturning our Constitutional rights.
