Talking to a Teabagger on an e-mail list I belong to that is about peak oil.
What I am seeing him say is (not in so many words, but still) "those colored people are taking all of my hard-earned money and that's going to be the death of our nation" (totally ignoring the fact that most of the people using welfare are actually white) and "I worked hard all my life and never got any help so why should anyone else get an education or any help." (Totally oblivious to the free education he received, libraries built for him, highways built for him, etc.)

He says he was born into poverty, in a house with no heat and no running water, and says that he hopes the next generation after us spoiled brats will be born into the same poverty he was.

Just a hateful, hateful, ignorant man.

I figure he's probably representative of many if not most Teabaggers.

I feel like I need to go wash my mind out after listening to his crap. Luckily, several smart people on the list schooled him some and he shut right up, and that made me feel a bit better anyway.

I truly wanted to reach through the computer and throttle that hateful man. I know I shouldn't have such violent thoughts, and I'd never act on them, but lord help me sometimes I do have violent thoughts.

2. Yup, and I pointed that out to him in an e-mail but he just ignored it, went on
to rant about what he supposedly saw as a teacher, etc. I figure he's lying. All right-wingers lie, all the time, so I don't put much trust in anything he says.

3. hard to change the minds of the willfull ignorant
Some people believe "my life sucked, therefore so should everyone's". Not much you can do about it. They want to punish everyone instead of hoping for the well being of all.

4. Wow. Ugly. I worked with a man in NC who was as Southern as they come. His
dad was a -- is the term sharecropper? -- and his family grew up in an unheated shack on the land owner's property. His dad would be beaten by the owner for not producing enough, etc., and dad would take it out on the kids who should have been working harder.

This guy grew up to be the most giving, loving individual. I remember he bought a car (a beater, but just the same) for one of our co-workers, a black woman, who was trying to work and go to school and raise three kids on her hourly wage.

Dennis, as opposed to this hateful slime you've had the misfortune to "meet", grew up NOT feeling like he was a victim, NOT being a racist, NOT blaming others for his life.

I wonder what the difference is - why some of us turn out one way and others become the complete opposite.

5. That's just the talking point that the corporate "powers that be"
use to turn the middle-class against each other, while they grab everything.

9. Oh, yeah, that reminds me, another one of his talking points was that if we are
mean to the super rich people they will take their jobs somewhere else and then where will we all be?

Just...willfully ignorant like someone on this thread pointed out.
