Will Obama Dare Campaign in Front of Union Workers in 2012?
I cannot imagine any union worker standing there and listening to him. Will he seriously try to do the "put on my shoes and walk with you" speech or anything remotely like it? Perhaps he will use the "but the other guy is real scarey and will do bad things to you" approach. Who cares..the "trust me" factor is gone. And once your throat has been slit, you really don't care whose knife is worse. I'm 65 and this is the most pathetic Dem performance ever in pretending to care for workers. (Bill fucked them over but at least he was lovin' them while he did it).

1. Hard to imagine - maybe the unions will get behind a primary challenge...
Who knows?

37. Unions now know that the battle between PEOPLE & CORPS is inevitable...
Edited on Wed Mar-02-11 07:04 AM by polichick
Prez. Obama isn't going to lead that fight - maybe it'll wait until 2016, maybe not.

38. I give the unions more credit than that - why should they just fall in line...
They could get behind a primary challenge if someone like Feingold were to launch one.

44. first of all, Feingold, Sander and Kucinich have made it clear they aren't
running. There will be no credible- let alone viable candidate running against Obama. Why should Unions throw away their time, effort and money on a fruitless quest? They're not that fucking stupid.

49. Has Feingold said he wouldn't run since Walker's attack on unions?
It's possible he'll reconsider - if he did and ran a populist campaign (people vs corporate rule), he'd have a good chance with Dems, indies and union republicans. A poster from Wisconsin mentioned last week that voters there went with Bush & Feingold twice.

54. Go to Open Secrets website.
See that the Teamsters overwhelmingly support and contribute to Democrats.

Hoffa isn't happy that the Federal Government is going forward with allowing Mexican domiciled trucking companies hauling freight into and out of this country.

His beef is with NAFTA.

7. Maybe they'll
find a few reasons.

Where does President Obama stand on unions?

President 's 2009 executive order created the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations

Obama: Public Employees Should Not Be Vilified

<...>

But let me also say this: it does no one any good when public employees are denigrated or vilified or their rights are infringed upon. We need to attract the best and the brightest to public service. These are times that demand it. We’re not going to attract the best teachers for our kids, for example, if they only make a fraction of what other professionals make. We’re not going to convince the bravest Americans to put their lives on the line as police officers or firefighters if we don’t properly reward that bravery. So yes, we need a conversation about pensions and Medicare and Medicaid and other promises we’ve made as a nation.

But as we make decisions about our budgets going forward, I believe everyone should be at the table, and the concept of shared sacrifice should prevail. If all the pain is borne by one group – whether it’s workers, or seniors, or the poor – while the wealthiest among us keep getting tax cuts, we’re not doing the right thing. I think that’s something Republicans and Democrats should be able to agree on.

Summary: Don't vilify public employees; public service is vital; teachers are underpaid; you can't put the burden on workers, seniors and the poor while supporting tax cuts for the rich.

Excellent statement!

"Let's sue him for breach of promise and move on."

"Bill fucked them over but at least he was lovin' them while he did it."

Thanks Bill!

Give me a fucking break.

I bet ya more independants and GOPers learnt something negative about Scott Walker and the GOP because Obama didn't step into the fray. If he had the GOP would have painted the whole thing as a Democratic plot.
