Been wondering...why are the Libyan rebels using the old Kingdom of Libya flag?

Most of them aren't calling for the restoration of the old Libyan monarchy, are they?

If anyone IS calling for that, why?

And is there a pretender to that throne waiting out there in exile?

Not sure that restoring a monarchy is the answer to ANY country's problems.

I am not aware of any domestic forces calling for monarchism, "constitutional" or otherwise. The forces using this flag span from Islamists to communists.

I'd wonder the same thing if a revolutionary movement in the U.S. started using the Union Jack.
