Should the state legislature require businesses with more than 50 workers to provide paid sick days?

Yes. It's humane. It keeps sick workers from infecting colleagues with their illnesses. (560 responses) 35%

No. Connecticut is already one of the highest-cost states in which to do business. And we're in a terrible recession. Not a smart move right now. (692 responses) 43%

Yes. Gov. Malloy has promised to sign legislation if passed. This is Connecticut's chance to pioneer on social justice. (142 responses) 9%

No. This will solidify Connecticut's reputation as anti-business. (198 responses) 12%

1. I'm currently on my third consecutive paid sick day
Came down with the flu on the weekend; I'm 'well' enough to go to work today, but possibly still contagious (not 100% better yet). I work in an enclosed space with a dozen other people. I wouldn't want to infect my coworkers with the misery I just went through. My boss would rather see me home than come in and decimate the department.

This is the first time in well over a decade I've been out sick for three consecutive days. I'm lucky I have this benefit; otherwise I might feel the need to go to work sick to not be short on cash.
