You know, I think in our country we have merged Capitalism and Communism
When you consider the definition for Communism...

>>>snip
An economic and social system envisioned by the nineteenth-century German scholar Karl Marx. In theory, under communism, all means of production are owned in common, rather than by individuals ( see Marxism and Marxism-Leninism). In practice, a single authoritarian party controls both the political and economic systems.

and substitute the word "corporations"

>>>snip
In practice, a corporation controls both the political and economic systems.

Food for thought and discussion.

2. I've thought that too
but we kind of have some hybrid stuff going on here.

I'm sure with American ingenuity we have invented our very own special kind of despotism.

4. I've always pointed out that the problem with pure socialism in modern practice
is that the cadre of party insiders eventually become the same de facto aristocracy that the accumulation of wealth would accomplish for them in capitalism, both positions passing on to heirs.

Unfortunately, you're conflating totalitarianism with both socialism and capitalism, which are purely economic systems. Were they properly structured, that doesn't have to be the case, wealth taxed away from heirs and nepotism prevented in top socialist jobs.

5. Fascism is the merger of the government and business with the
result that Business has the power and control.)Ideology of the Right)

Communism is the Merger of business and the Government
but the GOVERNMENT has the power and control. In Communism
the Government would own and operate (operate being the
operative word) the Businesses. Ideology of the Left)

The Country is too right wing to be Communistic.

It is reasonable to point out that using Fascism
in this sense is perfectly acceptable.

You can say we are close to fascism .

It becomes a problem when we step up to Nazism.

Hitler took Germany from Fascism to totalinaranism (Nazism)

Stalin took Russia from Communism to totalinarianism (Stalinism)

9. What we have is a sort of capital-based neo-feudalism.
Corporations are the new fiefdoms, CEOs are the new Barons and Counts and Marquises.

10. We have more of a "socialist" system
Not quite as much of one as in Europe, Canada, etc. but we still have SOME public services left- though more and more things are being "privatized" and sold off to private corporations. I've long said that if somebody was able to figure out some way to control the air we breathe, they'd charge for that as well (and I'm being totally serious about that).
