Caller guessed that he would be ineligible to run for POTUS.

1. The "kind with footprints" is usually issued by hospitals and it's for display, not for legal use.
Some people aren't aware of that. Only a civil record of birth can be used. There is a procedure for establishing a record of birth long after the fact by having those present at the birth attest to the time and place but that's rarely used for U.S. births these days.

3. Exactly correct. It is not an official state issued birth certificate. That is why it was turned
down by the passport office.

6. Some yahoo caller - it was his birth certificate. He tried to use a souvenir bc to get a
passport. Dumb and dumber.

5. My husband's 1943 one was rejected for the same reason
We had to send for a certified copy.

What people forget is that the one with the little footprints are/were a "memento" for the baby book.. the REAL one was on file at the dept of vital statistics..
