Breaking: Wisconsin Dems throw their weight behind drive to recall GOP Senators
By Greg Sargent

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/2011/03/breaking_wisconsin_dems_throw.html

The Wisconsin Democratic Party has decided to throw its weight behind a nascent grassroots drive to recall a number of GOP state senators, a move that will considerably increase the pressure on them to break with Governor Scott Walker, the Dem party chair confirms to me.

"The proposals and the policies that Republicans are pushing right now are not what they campaigned on, and they're extreme," the party chair, Mike Tate, said in an interview. "Something needs to be done about it now. We're happy to stand with citizens who are filling papers to recall these senators."

Previously, Wisconsin Dems had not publicly supported talk about recalling GOP Senators, in hopes of privately reaching a negotiated solution to the crisis. The Wisconsin Democratic Party's decision to support the recall drives represents a significant ratcheting up of hostilities and in essence signals that all bets are off.

Eight Republican Senators are eligible to be recalled right now, and various groups around Wisconsin are beginning to file papers to make it happen. Tate told me that the party would throw its organization behind such efforts

5. AWESOME!
That's the way to do it.

Recall the republicans--replace with Democrats (it is a 60 day process in Wisconsin if what I read is correct) and then impeach and then prosecute Walker.

6. They've got big numbers on their side
Over 60% are against Walker's draconian bullshit including Republicans.

I'll enjoy seeing Walker standing firm on his pompous podium, as it is hauled away from the capitol.

Or better yet put him behind bars for breaking the many laws he thinks he is above.

9. Good, I hope at least some of them are recalled, quickly.
They are not fit to serve the people of Wisconsin as they have proven already.

17. WI rules say he can't be recalled until he's been in office for one year.
It would be nice to see some other way to get him out. Before he destroys the state and worse, before he gets into national politics.

22. Get the petitions circulated, signatures gathered and the legal paperwork ready now.
It wouldn't hurt to let this joker know that recall movement is locked and loaded and his political future may well depend on himself understanding that he works for all of the voters, not just the few that stand to profit from his economic agenda.

26. You can't collect any "official" signatures until the recall paperwork is filed, and you can...
...only file it 60 days before his first anniversary. So it won't do any good to get signatures gathered now.

But the rest - petitions, legal paperwork and other organizing details - yes!!

19. What great news!
Local action is precisely what is needed to send a message to Koch Industries and their wholly owned operating subsidiary, the RNC, that their state is not going to willingly participate in their own economic destruction. I hope that this is the catalyst to begin taking this country back from the short-sell artists who are trying to take this country down. Let this serve as a warning to all of the State legislators in this country that legislation action against interests of the bottom 95% of this country's citizens will not be tolerated.
