Report from Protester on the scene in Wisconsin yesterday |
|
by PamperoFirpo
And the People shout- FOX NEWS LIES…FOX NEWS LIES…FOX NEWS LIES!
Yesterday in Madison was quite the day again…10-15k protestors. I don’t have time to look through yesterday’s posts so please excuse any redundancy.
Protestors have been pretty much locked out of the Capitol since Monday. Most were verbally coerced to leave the rotunda after Sunday night and the rest were “starved out” because no food was being let into the Capitol. Only about a dozen or so remained overnight Monday.
The only people let into the Capitol yesterday were personal guests of assembly and senate members…democrat members had a very hard time getting their guests in while republicans fared much better. A few democrat assembly members even had trouble getting in themselves. Obviously, clearing the Capitol for cleaning was an excuse to clear it so Walker wouldn’t have to deal with embarrassment. I’ll touch on the illegality of this action in a bit.
If any of you heard Walkers speech you heard great applause at the proper times. What you may not know is that the applause was canned. See, Walker and his rethug buddies don’t brave the massive crowds laying siege to the Capitol. There is an underground tunnel that leads into the building through which they make their escapes and comings. We learned that Walker supporters were brought through this tunnel to make it appear that his bill is supported. I wonder how many of them were not even Wisconsin residents?
For the first time, barricades were put up on the walkway immediately surrounding the Capitol on the end where Walker would spew his spiel. The purpose was to lessen the deafening sound of the crowd as to not give background noise during Walkers delivery.
While the stooges clapped inside, 10k+ made a ruckus outside. Drums, whistles, bull horns, air sirens, and various other noise makers combined with people yelling various chants at the top of their lungs provided quite a few decibels. Unfortunately, it was not audible on the speech replay I heard later last night. I’m surprised at that.
Earlier in the day, a Madison judge ruled that the “lock out” violated a Wisconsin law regarding access to the Capitol and issued an injunction. The injunction was ignored in flagrant violation. After Walkers speech, the crowd surged on every entrance chanting “LET US IN…LET US IN” but to no avail. From a distance, it looked and sounded like the peasants converging on Frankenstein’s castle. Worth noting is that there were many off duty police holding “Cops For Labor” signs among the fray.
Once again there wasn’t even a hint of violence. The protestors are almost too nice to each other and the police.
A few more quick points before ending this already too long post.
His threats against the Wisconsin 14 that teacher layoffs will occur if they don’t return is pure bullshit. The layoffs will occur regardless of their absence. He’s simply painting them as the demons in this standoff.
Walker stated a plan for statewide charter schools. Very bad idea- for profit education on taxpayers money. And they call us fascists!
Walker plans eliminating the requirement for a teaching certificate to teach in the state. There are so many things wrong with this I can’t even begin to comment or this post may never end.

3. We're living in a horror movie. It defies common sense that one little man |
|
could hurt his own citizenry with such deranged, destructive ideas unchecked. Only a mad man would hurt so many without a thought about how hated he's going to be.
This is a tragedy in so many ways. I'm just beside myself with anger for what the people of Wisconsin are having to endure. Someone on the federal level needs to step in NOW.
