Why is it everything the 'Baggers do they do 'For Freedom'?????? |
|
:wtf:
I didn't know freedom fed a family, mowed the lawn, drove the kids to a softball game, went to the store, paid for birthday presents, and on and on.......
What utter ignorant bullshit.

4. That seems to be their argument |

If not freedom, then democracy. In there view of the world, freedom is only for the elites in the marketplace.

We don't have much in the way of freedom relative to what we had, but we have it in droves compared to many other countries... but compared to some, we're tied to the whipping post.

9. It is not about their freedom, really! |
|
They rally for the freedoms of their corporate masters. Maybe its a sense of vicarious freedom that they, themselves are fearful of when it comes to actually having it. Gee, choices and empowerment can be so ... liberal and demanding.
Some people have been taught that being controlled, used and abused is not only comfortable but can be confused with personal liberty. I suspect lots of childhood abuse of every kind, not that it is a get out of willful ignorance free card, by any means.
The way I define freedom now may not make sense to some people and I understand that. However, it is liberating in its own way because it starts within and has a subjective glow to it: True freedom is the realization that there is absolutely nothing at all to be free from. That may be where all freedom begins and thrives, even if the oppressors don't agree.

10. To them it's just a word. |
|
Just like "Liberal" or "Union". They have no concept of what they are talking about. They think freedom means the right to shoot their guns, and not pay taxes. They have no understanding of the deeper meaning of the word... They have no understanding of what it's like to not be a white Christian American and they have no desire to.

11. Because a smart marketer figured out that if you attach "For Freedom" to bad things |
|
It makes it easier to argue for the bad things and since the Baggers are such sheep, they continue to spew the dribble that is fed to them by more marketers. When France stood against the invasion of Iraq, why did they do so according to Shrub? "Because they hate us for our Freedoms." At this point, the word "freedom" is a lot like the word "love;" horribly overused and losing its potency.

15. because we let them define just what freedom is |
|
I personally think freedom is being free from poverty, having a decent paying job, being able to control the decisions concerning my reproductive choices, free from fear that one illness will result in me losing my house, and so on and on and on

17. because it is a vague 'glittering generality' |
|
Glittering generalities is one of the most effective propaganda techniques to use on Americans. Appeals to our eternal optimism. Reagan and both Bushes used it frequently.
1000 points of light kinder gentler etc.

20. Sociopaths consider all constraints to be enslavement |
|
ANY law saying what one must or mustn't do is communistic intrusion on the god-given right of the individual to do as he damned well pleases. There's another word for laws: regulations; there's another word for people who dislike regulations: criminals.
Civilization is premised upon each of us giving up certain things for the benefit of the group, and the end result of this is that we each get MUCH more than we ever could have managed independently. Tell that to a libertarian, though, and it's responded to as if it's white noise.
