Berkeley Breathed, Bloom County...

Yes, I'm quite sure that all our problems can be solved by busting up the unions, starting with teacher's unions... :eyes:

3. Never much liked Bloom County.
And I don't like the divide-and-conquer approach with the watermelon.

10. It did, truly -- I wasn't trying to crap on the thread...
...but I don't hesitate say what I think.

16. I'm a bigtime Bloom County lover, but that's how it looks to me.

I think I would have seen it the same way 20 years ago.

But in today's Wisconsin/Ohio/America, how could I see anything else?

11. It is interesting to me how different perception can be
Because to me it did not seem like pitting one underclass against another.

To me it just pointed out the absurdity of going after teacher's unions as some sort of cost cutting measure.

It's not arguing that garbage collectors should make LESS money.

12. No, but I think the humorous difference between the grape and the watermelon is meant to mean
something. He didn't bring out another grape, or an orange. It's the biggest fruit there is.

13. Yes, but does that imply that garbage colectors are overpaid?
Or that teachers are underpaid?

I think that's the crux of the perception difference.

14. i believe the point is that once the fractions are applied...
both fruits end up with diddly-squat...

try to fold the largest piece of paper you can find more than seven times...

reducing anything to nothing exposes the inherent perspective of 'size'...it's all big until it gets reduced...
