*I called this Day 14 because the official start date was #Feb17 but the kickoff was 2 days early so in reality today is day 14.

Venezuela says Gaddafi accepts Chavez plan-report

Chavez spoke to Gaddafi on Tuesday and laid out his proposal to seek a negotiated solution to the violence in Libya, Venezuela's Information Minister Andres Izarra said, without giving more details.

However, news network Al Jazeera said in a broadcast that during the call Gaddafi had accepted the plan, which would involve a commission from Latin America, Europe and the Middle East trying to reach a negotiated outcome between the Libyan leader and rebel forces.

Citing senior government sources, Al Jazeera's Caracas Correspondent Dima Khatib said via her Twitter feed that Venezuela's foreign minister had spoken with Arab League President Amr Moussa who also agreed to the plan.

Muammar Gaddafi and the Arab League have accepted a peace plan proposed by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to end the crisis in Libya, said Thursday the channel Al Jazeera.

Caracas proposed sending a mission of international mediation consisting of representatives from Latin America, Europe and the Middle East to try to negotiate an outcome between Libyan authorities and rebel forces. Hugo Chavez held talks Tuesday with Libyan leader to outline his proposed negotiated settlement of the violence, said the Venezuelan information minister, Andres Izarra.

The Venezuelan authorities did not publicly acknowledge the response of the Libyan leader. But Al Jazeera says that Gaddafi had agreed to the plan Chavez. And Dima Khatib, a correspondent for the chain in Caracas, said Amr Moussa, secretary general of the Arab League has done the same.

There were quite a few tweets yesterday about the need to replace all the former Gaddafi people in the council. The situation gets more dire every day. I read up about the weapons the revolutionaries have and most of them are in pretty bad shape because #G never trusted or respected the Army. One Guardian story explained that all he ever gave them was a uniform. The Khamis Bde got all the weapons and they're still w\ Gaddafi. So they revolutionaries have three choices here

1. continue fighting with sticks stones and the limited outdated weapons they have
2. NATO intervention with a no fly zone requiring boots on the ground that they reject
3. International Peace Committee not led by former or present colonial powers

NATO is stretched thin and US generals are apprehensive about getting involved. Sticks and stones are getting them slaughtered. The best they can hope for is to isolate #Gaddafi in his compound, cut off his communications with the outside world so he can't bring more mercs in to cause trouble and form a government that totally ignores him and lets him rot in his compound. That would take lots of time to capture the communications, beat all the #G people, set up borders, restrict air space...

Imho, their best option now is to work with a goodwill committee 2 force Gaddafi out of Libya and assassinate him as soon as they can or send him to the ICC.

I'm apprehensive about all three options. I don't see how this can end well unless #G is killed and all his people rounded up and brought to justice promptly.

Three Dutch soldiers are after a failed evacuation fallen into the hands of the Libyan regime of Muammar Gaddafi.
The Ministry of defence confirmed Thursday a message thereon of the Telegraph.


A helicopter flew from naval frigate hnlms Tromp in the direction of the Libyan city of Sirte to two to pick up evacuees. After landing, the crew was attacked by an armed group of pro-Government Libyans. The evacuation took place last Sunday, but was for security reasons so far kept quiet.


The two evacuees, according to the Telegraph a Dutchman and an unnamed European, by the Libyans turned over to the Dutch Embassy and have now left the country. On the release of the three soldiers still finds intensive diplomatic consultations, according to the Ministry of defence.


British commando troops knew last weekend in secret a group of about one hundred and fifty people from Libya to evacuate. The evacuees was strictly requested in advance about the impending rescue nobody to tell
