Had a thought - how about putting a "repeal minimum wage" initiative on the ballot in all 50 states?

It was something Rachel Maddow said that got me thinking. She pointed out that nothing brings out the Democratic base like issues such as a minimum wage initiative. There are two ways to look at it. You COULD put an initiative on the ballot to INCREASE the minimum wage, but I doubt that would get the turnout of one seeking to repeal it. I seriously doubt such an initiative would pass in any state, even the really fucked up ones, but it would certainly get our side out to the polling places!

Thoughts?

1. What if it passes?
If people aren't fearful of their livelihoods by now, nothing short of landing in a Gulag is going to wake them up.

4. Exactly--we passed an increase in AZ and businesses used it to eliminate lots of jobs.
Very bad idea...

5. It's depressing, what people tolerate and then go vote in their own worst possible
interest. Anymore, every minute is getting to be a WTF moment for me.

3. How about a raise minimum wage to $12 amendment for all 50?

With the requirement for bi-annual cost of living increases.

But I would come out to vote in either case.

6. I like the idea, but I think the number should be state-specific.
Face it. It costs a shitload more to live in some states than it does in others. Granted, there are variances even within each state, but there are some definite regional disparities that can be viewed as state-specific.
