We should be the Adults
Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 11:41 AM by EnlightenedOne
And scold our represenatives for acting like the spoiled rotten children they are - those who have a ton of toys, but want more, those who have a ton of candy, but want more - when we KNOW its neither good for them, or for us. We need to remind them that pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered.

The "supposed" budget crisis is easily solvable:

First - we demand that Halliburton & KBR and the rest of their subsidiaries who emptied our Treasury with their no-bid contracts (how many BILLIONS?) and then set up shop in the Grand Caymans and Dubai be FORCED to refund every dollar they stole from we, the taxpayers. The last report I could find said Halliburton pays only 15% of their taxes to the United States and 81% to foreign entities - and of course at a SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED RATE.

Also, KBR does not pay into Medicare or Social Security for ANY of their workers since they are stationed overseas.

Second, we demand an end to the $3 Trillion illegal and immoral wars.

Third - we demand that the loopholes for corporations who have gone overseas to escape Federal taxes be LAWFULLY REQUIRED to pay a flat penalty based on their earnings back to the United States, with no exceptions. Coca-Cola, P&G, etc. - this costs the United States OVER $650 BILLION in lost revenue a year.

Fourth - we demand an IMMEDIATE END to the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthy.

Fifth - we demand that the give away to the oil companies IMMEDIATELY CEASE. Yesterday, the Republicans voted to extend giving OUR hard-earned money to the oil companies who made a profit of nearly $10 BILLION last year.

And really, I don't see what is wrong with us - WE THE PEOPLE - THE REAL GOVERNMENT - demanding that the Republican Governors demanding wage cuts for teachers FIRST take a substantial pay cut for themselves. And every Republican Governor who seeks to dismantle the new Health Care Law be refused to enroll in their own government health care.

Sine we are being played for hostages - we might as well start making our demands. There is more of us then them. Until we demand everyone pay their fair share, we're going to wind up being the slaves they desire - making third world wages, .

Now - how to go about it is another story..... how do we do it as a united front? It would take every group - Act Blue, Change, Move-On, Union Groups, etc., to get involved. There is nothing we could do to withhold or punish except to refuse to pay our taxes - and we would be subject to jail and fines... but one would think they couldn't put us all in jail, or the FEMA camps.

Just had to get that off my chest. So discuss, if you are so inclined.

1. I want some of what you're on. Americans are too clueless anymore to push for
these things. We're living in the age of willful stupidity.

2. Well, I thought exactly as you many times
But then - I saw people getting off their couches and going to protest day and night in Wisconsin.

And then I saw more people getting of their couch and protesting in Ohio - and all around the United States.

There are revolutions happening all over the world. The people have had enough. Don't think that our politicians aren't shaking in their boots. Look at Saudi Arabia who just handed out a a boatload of money to their citizens.

People in Libya are willing to die to be free - and here we sit - just watching these corporate whores stealing our very livlihoods.

They fear us, but they also know that we're all to fat and lazy eating McDonalds and watching our soaps, sports, and reality shows to ever really do anything about it. Wisconsin was a wake-up call to me, and I'm sure it is to them too.

If we remain apathatic and give up, then we have indeed made ourselves slaves. I don't know about you, but I'm not willing to go there. I'm not willing to hand this future over to my children (or grandchildren should there ever be any).

At the very least - a write-in or call campaign needs to get started - we should think of something to mail to our representatives. Perhaps a poster of the V character. Something.

5. I'm not willing to give up either. I write my congressman, they don't even
bother to respond here. If you're not republican and you're not giving them lots of money they could care less if you even exist. I'm hopeful on a national basis we will get something going. They have pushed people to the edge, I think. I just don't see how people can continue to put up with the absolute BS today and say, now this is good.

Wisconsin hopefully will be the spark that makes people realize it's far more than just about unions. Those not in unions should be very very concerned, because they're coming for them next, and they will be easy pickings. Who are they going to go to, HR, what a joke.

3. End to the Bush tax cuts? Insufficient.
Clinton's rates were way too generous for time of war. We need Ike rates.

4. Hey, its a start.
I'd be happy to demand Clinton's rates. Ike rates would never happen. No sense in us appearing to be greedy, although life was good for everyone under Ike, and it would seem those rates were entirely fair - but they wouldn't be perceived that way today.

6. Which is why we start by demanding Ike rates.
Does no Democrat know how to negotiate?
