What's your impression of the "moderate" group of Democrats for the 112th congress?
Hagan, Carper, Udall to Lead Moderate Senate Dems Group in 112th Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. - United States Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) today announced she will co-lead the Moderate Dems group in the 112th Congress. Hagan will lead the group with Senator Tom Carper of Delaware and Senator Mark Udall of Colorado. All three leaders are also honorary co-chairs of Third Way, a leading moderate Democratic policy group.

The Senators' goal is to work with the Senate leadership, Senate Republicans and the administration to craft commonsense solutions to urgent national problems, including paying down the national debt, education reform and energy policy. As they did in the 111th Congress, the group will meet every other Tuesday to discuss legislative strategies and ideas, including the importance of passing a fiscally responsible spending plan in the Senate.

I would like to see primary challenges for these seats in the next election.

1. "Moderate" has become a euphemism for traitorous, back-stabbing piece of shit

4. How well did ideological purity work for DE Republicans last year?
They had an almost sure thing in Mike Castle. But he was a moderate. So they opted for a 'Real Republican.' Most DUers chuckled at how foolish GOP voters were to do this. But when a DUer suggests that we do the same thing, it is met with applause.

6. Look around you. And by that, not here but America.
When do we need to stop disassembling the public sector for tax cuts and privatization? I think we are there.

10. What good is a majority that is tone deaf?
We need different blood in the Senate so we won't know it only as somewhere where progressive legislation goes to die.

12. I do not have a problem with all Democrats in the Senate.
This is their line up:

In addition to Hagan, Carper and Udall, the Moderate Dems include Senators Michael Bennet of Colorado, Mark Begich of Alaska, Kent Conrad of North Dakota, Chris Coons of Delaware, Herb Kohl of Wisconsin, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Bill Nelson of Florida, Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Jon Tester of Montana, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Mark Warner of Virginia.

13. I would leave Mark Warner alone for now.
VA's already got Allen gunning for Webb's seat, they don't need it to be worse than it already is.

18. Most all
There are voting-record scorecards out there...

I will take an 85% Dem over a 10% Republican every time. (And if you haven't noticed it is getting harder and harder to elect Democrats to the Senate from "certain" States.)

This is not a matter of principle but the game of numbers that determines the makeup of the Senate.

16. Besides Coons and Manchin (obviously) who in that list voted against the bill
Passed out of committee regarding Health Insurance Reform?

Who besides Landrieu (for even more obvious reasons) has opposed Energy Reform?

20. That would be awesome! However....
We spent the greater part of a year discussing this in the Senate.

It didn't happen because there was not the votes for it. Especially after Code Brown.

I appreciate and respect the Primary process but it is very hard to campaign against someone who has done nearly everything the leadership wanted.
