U.S. troops arrive in Greece in Libya buildup
Source: USA Today

ATHENS (AP) — Some 400 U.S. Marines arrived at an American naval base in Greece in a buildup of U.S. forces around revolt-torn Libya, even as European governments shied away Thursday from possible military action.

Italy ruled out any possible Italian military participation in Libya, citing its history as the country's colonial occupier. Germany said military action would be counterproductive and would only feed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's propaganda machine.

Libyan opposition leaders have pleaded for foreign powers to launch airstrikes to help them oust Gadhafi, but the Pentagon has tried to play down the idea of using force, including a no-fly zone.

 They are on the verge of a major assault upon America. That is why we have to attack them now...That LIE has always worked in the past so why shouldn't it work now..

5. The 400 Marines will serve aboard a ship whose 1200 marine contingent...

are deployed in Afghanistan. This was on the news 2 days ago. They are there to supply humanitarian aid, just as Marines were used after tsunami's and earthquakes.

400 marines is not a buildup. 400 Marines could not invade anything. This is real life not an action flick.

When they move in 40,000, I will consider the notion that they are planning an invasion.

8. Perhaps if lead by Schwarzeneger...
400 marines could be used for humanitarian aid. 400 Marines could be used to provide weapons for the rebels. 400 marines does not make a buildup.

12. I really have mixed feelings about this.
I feel the Libyans should shape their own destiny on one hand, but on the other hand I wonder if we should sit back and watch a genocide begin to happen while we do nothing. Also, if there is any outside interference I would rather it was a coalition of nations (a real coalition, not a Bush coalition) acting as peacekeepers and not just us securing areas so the Libyans can go to the drawing board and create a new nation. I fear though that our motives would not be pure but very much backed by the oil companies who stand to lose in this revolution. It is a dilemma.
