"President Gingrich?" I don't think so.
This person/creature/abomination, actually believes he/it could become president.

Many of us live in our own fantasies, but few of us can approach those of Newt Gingrich. He really doesn't understand how many people despise him -- including many Republicans.

I guess that some people, once they've achieved a certain amount of notoriety or fame, begin to drift off into some fantasy land in which they believe in their own "greatness" and/or "destiny."

Newt, if by some far out chance you're reading this, go home, take an enema, relax and forget about becoming president. I really don't believe that even all of the Koch brother's billions could buy the Oval Office for you.

Then again, as much as I believe this, I can't help but remember that Saint Ronnie got elected -- twice. Or that Bush Jr. was able to steal it -- twice. Nonetheless, Gingrich ending up in the White House seems like an impossibility.

And if you disagree, what path to the presidency do you envision for him?

3. Newt's only chance at the Presidency was when he was in the line of succession as House Speaker.
So his opportunity has come and gone, thankfully.

4. Oh but just imagine....
all the Republican dollars to be wasted on that SOB.
Newt could so magnificently outweigh Meg Whitman's election bellyflop.

On top of that.... it would be a gift to comedians everywhere.

5. You know how divorce upsets the freeperati
Well, unless it's St. Ronnie. Or anyone not a Democrat that they'd like to see advance. Actually, for all their "family values" posturing, the only time marriage seems to upset them is when it's same sex, or two people they can't stand to see stick it out, like the Clintons.

6. It's all about the money, not winning the Presidency
Sister Sarah lost big, and many believe she was the real reason John McCrazy lost. However, the half governor of Alaska is cashing in big time, only because she was on the losing ticket in 2008.

7. Exactly!
Newt knows he'll never be president.
He's doing it to increase his speaking fees and book advances.

Please... don't be a sucker and actually believe this man is seriously running for president!
It only lends him credibility...

8. If he runs, I'd say he has roughly a 20% chance of winning the GOP nomination
I don't think he can beat Obama but a lot of that would depend on the current economic situtation. If unemployment is at 10% and gas is at $4.50 a gallon in 2012 the Republicans could run Ronny Raygun's corpse and win.

9. In my opinion,
he is running for the Office of the Vice President. And that is more of a possibility than president.

13. Right.
It's worth noting that Newt played a significant role in Dick Cheney's OVP. One example may illustrate that: when they were aware that Ambassador Joseph Wilson was questioning the White House's lies about Iraq & WMD -- but well before Wilson's NY Times op-ed -- Newt ran the first meeting, where a "work-up" on Wilson was ordered. This meeting was held in Cheney's office, although Dick did not attend.

A couple thoughts: first, Newt would be fully aware of the power that Cheney had in foreign affairs in the Bush administration; and second, Newt had to have juice in order to run such a meeting out of Cheney's office.

There is no way that the republican machine is looking to have Mitt running foreign policy. His "appeal" (and I hesitate to use that word to describe a Ken doll) is that he could put a smile on republican economic policy. But he'd need a VP who could be trusted by the machine in foreign policy. And of all the options, Newt would be among their top choices.

12. his only shot is the turnip strategy.
If unemployment is 10%+, we're still involved in 2 wars and gasoline is $4+ per gallon in November of 2012 a REPUBLICAN TURNIP will beat Obama.
