DEA Finally Admits Marijuana is Medicine

If you thought they were going to issue a formal apology after decades of flagrant dishonesty, you would be mistaken. But the DEA is at long last conceding marijuana's incredible medical value…by giving pharmaceutical companies exclusive permission to make pills out of it.

"arijuana has no scientifically proven medical value." So stated the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on page six of a July 2010 agency white paper, titled "DEA Position on Marijuana."

Yet only four months after the agency committed its "no medical pot" stance to print, it announced its intent to allow for the regulation and marketing of pharmaceutical products containing plant-derived THC -- the primary psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

Well the truth has risen to the top after years and years of lies and persecutions of Americans...
Just think of all those people over all these years who's lives were destroyed by the DEA and local Police...
Now that the DEA has finally caved on real facts.... The Federal Government decides to take full control and give permission to only drug companies to produce compounds derived from the Cannabis Plant..
Even with Local Government.. Its about fear and control... Its never ever about the compassion and getting Patients easy and safe access....
They have just outlawed several new products on the Market that mimic Cannabis without any research at all...
So why are the DEA waiting to change the classification of Cannabis???
I suppose a few more people going to jail is no concern of theirs..

I have found that at every turn.. Our Government has lied to us Americans for Control... Its our history..
Slice, dice, separate, demonize, and prosecute..
That's the American way..

4. I hope the DEA lets Obama know their change in
Attitude. So that President Obama goes ahead and offers a pardon to FlyByNight.

I couldn't help but notice the synchronicity in the fact that this is the week FlyByNight is sending in the notarized signatures for that pardon.

9. During the campaign..Didn't Mr. Obama say he would call off the Justice Dept attack dogs?
.. guess it ain't never gonna happen. (The United States has the highest prison population per capita than any industrialized country in the world.)

-------------------------------

The citizens of the United States like to think of this country as a free country, but recent statistics regarding incarceration of its citizens in prison paint a very different picture. The United States has more people in prison (both men and women) than any other nation on earth, including nations we regard as police states or nations that generally have little regard for human rights.

12. I'm no fan of Obama by now but he called off the Feds. States can enforce their own laws.
In CA that means it's basically legal as long as you get a medical card for it. The Feds are no longer raiding dispensaries and it's legal in the state.

States where it is illegal well, it's still illegal so state officials can bust you for it.

15. Uh, that's not accurate. Feds are still raiding legal clinics here.
I'm a patient, so I keep up with this. Obama is no friend to us.

What does that mean for people who grow their own "legally"? Can they still have their house siezed then? As a homeowner I won't go that route until it is completely legal, not going to take a chance.

13. DEA is just regulatory -- it takes its orders from NIH
Ask the scientists at NIH why they're dragging their feet regarding rescheduling cannabis. It's not like they haven't KNOWN (scientifically) for decades that it DOES have medical applications and a low potential for abuse. Cf:

14. This herb is cheap medicine
for people in great pain. The live plants can be cultured to provide higher cancer and pain reducing cannabinoids, while other mind altering aspects can be reduced. It is time that herbal medicine be dealt with in the mainstream in a sane and safe manner. It can be done, but the discussion has to be lifted out of the juvenile level of counterculture acting out.

In my opinion, all the counter culture stoner types are getting in the way of the legalization process. Prohibition has created a polarization within society, with 'straight' people posturing at one end of the spectrum and stoner types at the other end. Each abhors the other, and this standoff just feeds on itself with no bargain. I say the bargain HAS to be responsible use--responsible users HAVE to demonstrate and reassure everyone that we will use this herb safely.

We need to demonstrate that we are responsible users in order to obtain this freedom. Just like the abusers of freedom of speech (hate speech and propaganda), and abusers of freedom to bear arms (by intimidating others), the abusers of our freedom of religion (by ignoring the separation of church and state) all THREATEN our rights by their irresponsible behavior, so would people who endanger lives by using weed irresponsibly. They would make the 6 o'clock news and be the new poster child for a renewed prohibition.

I am a very liberal person and have had my fun with this herb, but I have known countless people who enjoy Marijuana responsibly, we don't drive, don't smoke in front of kids, don't work stoned, and don't make a big deal of this herb. I have always chosen to keep this part of my life private and personal.

I strongly believe responsible use has to be put on the bargaining table in order to integrate this herb into our society.
