Wisconsin Cops to Walker: Yeah right.... Nice try..
Wow. Let’s hear it for the Wisconsin Professional Police Association. Today the organization slammed Senate Republicans after they ordered the detention of 14
Democratic Senators staying in Illinois “with or without force.” Here’s the statement by these defenders of civil liberties and democracy:

Politics aside, encouraging the forcible detention of duly elected lawmakers
because they won’t allow you to dictate with a free hand is an unreasonable
abuse of police power,” said WPPA Executive Director Jim Palmer. “Due to the fact that Wisconsin officers lack any jurisdiction across state lines, does Senator Fitzgerald intend to establish a ‘lawmaker border patrol? The thought of using law enforcement officers to exercise force in order to achieve a political objective is insanely wrong and Wisconsin sorely needs reasonable solutions and not potentially dangerous political theatrics.

12. Potentially dangerous AND expensive
See, it's not dangerous to Walker or his ilk, so they don't care. But it is expensive, and some of Walker's supporters have said they're deeply concerned about state expenditures. I wonder if this colossal waste of money - Walker's determined tilting at windmills - is disturbing any of Walker's faithful constituents?

14. $$$?
Heck with that... they need to have the Patriot Act shoved down their throats.

They are threatening government officials to get them to bend to their demands.

8. At some point you just must believe that the r's will commit an egregious err.
Some of us think there is evidence that has happened.

Getting an attorney to present that argument i$ a bit challenging but not impo$$ible.

I know there are a few attorneys in Milwaukee county who are doing careful reads of all the administrative edicts and punitive rule changes. So far they haven't coughed up a filing.

that most of what they've done would have been considered an egregious err.

7. Lol, well there goes another failed attempt to scare Democrats
into compliance. I wonder who's advising him? Glenn Beck?

He's tweeting away posting articles that the thinks support his position, but intrepid citizens are there to point out the stupidity of some of the links he has provided.

Personally I wanted to know why he's not meeting with the people of Wisc who in polls now say they overwhelmingly oppose his bill. So far, he hasn't responded.

Now HE'S someone who took an oath to abide by the Constitution of the United States and bloody well lives up to it! His probity is all too rare these days.

30. Wait....
So, Palmer isn't going to go outside of his jurisdiction in order to wrongfully arrest the same men that are "breaking the law" in order to secure his rights/benefits/penchants/insurance? Talk about shocking! .....

The more and more I hear about Walker, the more I realize that he is a complete idiot.

31. Find it odd that the Police...
are the checks and balances here. Sad on it's face but glad for it. To PROTECT AND SERVE!!!!

So right now in Wisconsin I would find it hard to speed 5 miles over. Not for being caught, but to be nice. No longer see Wisconsin Police as cars to be spooked by. State Troopers on the other hand.. eek.

Why do people have such a difficult time differentiating between the legislature and the governor? This is just bizarre.

45. Democratization by cop
Edited on Fri Mar-04-11 06:20 PM by 90-percent
Let us also remember Tucson Sheriff Clarence Dupnik from last January's assassination tragedy. He said to the nation that this violent rhetoric would have consequences.

Trickle Down Democracy. You go down farther on the Municipal ladder and run into folks that still have a sense of honor and duty and believe in the Constitution they swore an oath to. Untainted by career politicians warped pursuit of power by corruption.

The honor and integrity to do whats right and fair for the people is still there. But it's bottom up. I know I've been hoping and clinging for brave leaders. We can get our democracy back by solidarity in numbers. It is not leaders that are going to do this, it's got to come from we the people.
