Dial And The Decalogue: Alabama Senator Pushes Commandments Amendment
Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 07:27 PM by Adsos Letter
Source: The Wall of Separation
March 3rd, 2011
By Sandhya Bathija.

"Forget what the Constitution and the courts say, Alabama State Sen. Gerald Dial knows best."

"On Tuesday, Dial introduced for the seventh time in his 10 years in office a bill that would amend the state constitution to encourage display of the Ten Commandments in public schools and other governmental buildings."

"According to Dial, the Commandments don’t favor any particular religious belief; they’re just 'rules we ought to live by.'”

He told The Anniston Star, “If it keeps one person from going berserk or killing folks then it’s worth the effort.”

1. Hey! That's the same reasoning I use for banning guns!
“If it keeps one person from going berserk or killing folks then it’s worth the effort.”

He took my reasoning!

2. For starters it favors monotheism.
There's only 3 commandments that are actual laws. Don't lie' don't steal and don't kill.

The rest are all variations of bow down to authority.

4. And Sabbath-keeping; whether on Saturday, or Sunday...
depending on the theology under consideration.

3. There are two sets of Ten Commandments in the Bible
Which one or both??
They should then have to put up the Declaration of Independence and the whole Constitution

5. explain please.
I'm vaguely aware of a set that has

thou shalt not kill
thou shalt not steal
something about coveting your neighbor's stuff

but I don't know about a different set.

So I'm curious.

Thanks

6. There is the first set that Moses carried down from the burning bush
Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 08:41 PM by Angry Dragon
and then he smashed them when he saw the people praying to idols
he went back up and brought a second set down and they are different
from the first set

do a google for different Commandments
My understanding is that Lutherans and Catholics have
different ones

edit spelling

7. okay.
I think I'd probably be okay with having the smashed up (as long as it was unreadable) set installed in schools.

off to google now . . .
