Judge orders Wis. activists out of Capitol
MADISON, Wis. — The controversy over collective bargaining got more intense on Thursday when a judge said he would order protesters out of the state Capitol after bullets were found there, and Gov. Scott Walker said he will issue layoff notices to 1,500 state workers on Friday if his proposal forcing them to pay more for benefits and taking away nearly all their collective bargaining rights isn't passed by then.

The judge moved to clear out the Capitol after state officials said the entire area should be cleared and searched after 41 bullets were found there earlier Thursday.

..State attorneys revealed the discovery during a hearing in Dane County Circuit Court, where unions were asking the judge to lift restricted-access rules that have been in place since Sunday and swing open the doors to the public. State attorneys cited the ammunition while suggesting the building should instead be closed for a security sweep.

23. The Dem Senators show up and it's all over
Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 10:03 PM by Canuckistanian
The debate has already happened.

If those Senators happen to be in the building when the vote is called - the bill passes.

Then this will be used as a precedent for ALL states. State Public Sector Unions will be dead.

Or is that what you want?

26. Not really. I suppose they can hold out a bit longer, but sooner or later
they are going to have participate in the process of governing.

24. The judge determined that all the restrictions that have been in place since Monday
are a steaming pile o' poo and no harm has been done to the building. The rules on building access have to revert to what they were back in January, with the proviso that some areas of the Capitol (don't know which; presumably some offices) can be roped off to limit access. The signs the protesters have put up may be taken down in some (but not all) areas of the Capitol; those will be sent to the Historical Society. In essence, the protesters have actually won, not lost, this court fight--and the last one left the building a short time ago. No arrests necessary.

8. What did he say about Walker's defiance of his original order?
Nothing, that's what he said. Impunity for Walker, protesters have to leave at closing time.

14. What the judge really ordered
was that the Capitol must remain open to the public during normal business hours but protestors can't stay overnight there anymore. On balance, a win for the protestors and democracy.

18. The bullets had to have been planted
"University of Wisconsin Police Chief Susan Riseling testified that 41 rounds of .22-caliber ammunition were found Thursday morning scattered at several locations outside the Capitol. No guns were found with them." From the OP link - emphasis added.

Somebody went around with a pocket full of bullets and seeded the place. ALL outside the Capitol? So wouldn't it be safer INSIDE than on the grounds outside?

I bet the ReTHUGs will use this are an excuse to extend the police line to the edge of the Capitol grounds, not just at the doors of the building.
