New Orleans conservative, anti-gay pastor calls himself a "hypocrite" after arrest

The Rev. Grant Storms called himself a "hypocrite" because of his Friday arrest on accusations of masturbating in a public park. Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies charged him with obscenity after two women claimed they saw him touching himself while watching children on the playground at Lafreniere Park.

Storms said in a news conference Tuesday that he was not watching the children, but he did have his hand in his pants.

"That Friday I was reclined in the chair in the van, and I had opened my pants and I had my hand in my underwear," Storms said. "I'm not a pedophile. I'm not a child molester, and I don't go exposing myself to children."

He apologized to those he has hurt, and he said he was sorry for targeting Decadence, an annual gay festival in the French Quarter.

He's in a van, reclining. He coulda been napping. Coulda been watching clouds. How did the women know he was touching himself?

He had to have had a door open for them to see him.

just walking by. or maybe you are right. maybe some observant mothers who saw a strange van parked by the park checked it out and found the perv in there. Parents tend to be on the look out for strange people and strange vehicles near where their kids play. Maybe he did this a lot and the van had been there several times. I know I would be wary of a van parked near where my kids play that doesn't look familiar.

6. Yes, they could have seen him sitting in the van

but unless they went right up to the vehicle or he had the door open, how could they tell what he was doing in there? I mean, think about it: A person could be sitting in their car, texting on their phone, and if the phone is kinda in their lap, how would that appear differently from someone um, doin' somethin' else?

I'm thinking of the parks I took my kids to, or that my grandkids go to, and the parking area isn't like right in the middle of the play area. At a distance of even 30 to 50 feet, which really isn't very far, it would be difficult to tell what someone was doing in a closed car unless there were other evidence.

So yes, maybe he had been hanging around there frequently and the mothers were suspicious. Or maybe he had a door open and someone walked by and saw something. Or a window was open and they heard something. Or maybe he was walking through the play area, went back to his van, and kinda like "disappeared" inside it for a while.

All I'm saying is that there is a lot more to this story than the little bit that's been told. And whatever that more is, it's not gonna be positive for our little perv.

As they walked around to the side of their vehicle, they could see what he was up to because his windows were open.
