Can we talk??
I would like to raise and discuss the idea of block captains. I am sure that many of you here were involved in the Obama campaign to the extent that you learned how completely organized they were. It was amazing. Well, now, with the next election far off, sort of, it seems to me that NOW is the time to set an organization in place in which every Dem. would be willing to look after the block he/she lives on. If there is an 18 year old, the kid needs to be registered. If there is a need for signs, there could be a runner for signs. If someone on the block needs a ride to polls, a known driver could function in that way. We have a terrible reputation for being unorganized people who think for themselves and don't follow lock-step. That's great. But, to work against the unlimited money now, with the Koch Bros. around and Citizens United in place, the rules have changed. We need to have a plan, an organization. So, who, here would be willing to consider being a block captain (for lack of a better term) ? What should the captains do? In some cases, areas are so densely populated that even one side of one block per person might be better. Any comments? Any suggestions? I have no experience in such matters, but I think we need to be organized down to the block this time around. Thanks.

1. Won't the Obama campaign just mobilize OFA again?

2. What is OFA?
Yeah, maybe you are right. And what about for the state and local elections? Is this a good idea or a waste of time and resources?

5. OFA
Organizing For America. The chapter on my side of town was okay but lacked focus in the 2010 campaign. And my state turned redder than a stop sign. My block is already organized I live on it. I keep my neighbors and family and friends and the person at the grocery store informed of the issues. I will bring it up. If they don't have an opinion I make them form one. I ask questions until they start asking them of themselves. Then I am also prepared with the answer and where they can find out if what I am saying is true. Works every time.
