U.N. Wants Probe in Afghan Civilian Deaths
Source: UPI

UNITED NATIONS, March 4 (UPI) -- There is "serious concern" over claims nine Afghan children were killed in a NATO airstrike, a U.N. special envoy said while calling for a thorough review.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai expressed outrage over reports that nine people were killed by international forces in an attack Tuesday. All of the victims were children, the Afghan president said.

Radhika Coomaraswamy, U.N. special envoy for Children and Armed Conflict, said she welcomed the statements from Petraeus.

A thorough review was needed, however, "to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent children from becoming casualties in the complex and volatile situation in Afghanistan," she said in a statement.

1. This is just one of hundreds of these murders. It's about time
something was done to stop it.

Otoh, I am sure they will simply pay the families a few hundred dollars and everyone will forget and the bombings and drone attacks will continue, until we are finally out of their country.

Is it any wonder that those people rising up against our dictator allies in N.Africa and the ME have demanded that there be no interference from the U.S. as 'we do not want our country turned into another Iraq'.

4. Well we have to do something to keep them from "griping"..
You know according to the guy running this country, that is the biggest "gripe" the Afghani people have... Collateral Damage. A gripe... Looks like they aren't getting their "pony".

5. Yes, it's simply unbelievable that they have such disregard for
other human beings and seem to be totally unable to empathize with a mother or father who loses a child and especially in such a horrific way.

An apology, at least this time they didn't try to deny it. The crimes are piling up and America remains silent about what their government is doing. As Chris Floyd pointed it, it is ludicrous for this government to point fingers at anyone else for crimes against humanity.
