I believe I have come to understand the Republican mind
It was actually right in front of us the entire time.

They believe they have created all that is good in our Country.

I come to this conclusion by posing the following question to Repubs.

"Based upon your beliefs what Country can you point to as being successful?"

Now I thought this would be an eye opener for them, name a successful Country following Republican ideology. To me it was evident, you can't.

To a Republican it was very different, each one answered..... The United States of America.

So each one believes that the USA is the best example of what should be followed, completely ignoring Public education, completely ignoring Union contributions, completely ignoring FDR and the social programs put in place.

In summation they believe that this Country is the shining example of all that is possible while conveniently ignoring all of the sacrifices made by every one of their forefathers.

2. and idiotic bumper stickers. I was walking through a parking lot today, and saw a car full of
reichwingnut stickers. I stopped, and made comments about each one of them, out loud. heard a very rude noise behind me, and turned around to discover the owner of the vehicle--aghast that anyone had the temerity to point out his stupidity.

"heeeeeere's your sign"

3. The Great Dumbing Down of America has yielded exactly what the fascists hoped for.
A plurality of morons. People who can be convinced, over and over again, and never with facts but with only the most cynical appeals to their fears, to act in such extreme opposition to their own best interests that it's frankly impossible to distinguish them from the proverbial lemmings.

4. Yes,
but I hesitate to call it a "mind". It is more like a hive mentality or that of social insects. Something sends out signals to the colony and they react, repeat those signals and follow the program.

A mind is a functional capacity that actually thinks, contemplates and weighs out ideas and facts. It is always learning and creating new permutations while solving problems, etc.

5. I think it all boils down to whether they are self-centered or not.
They put themselves ahead of everyone... not only with finances, but they think they are smarter than everyone else, regardless of any kind of logic, schooling or experience. Lastly, they want to be the best at everything, with no effort or sacrifice on their part. This is why they just love the soldier, cop or fire fighter who fought for them, yet when they need medical/psychological or medical help, they now consider them freeloaders, or better yet, they don't consider them at all - they just forget about them like the now-born fetuses.

Yet, if someone works for private enterprise and does everything wrong, he/she is given a pass on it all.

They all want to think that someday, they will be able to live off the backs of others, and get all the Monopoly money, and they will do whatever they can, to facilitate their pipe-dreams.

8. Their basic psychology lies somewhere between
Egocentric...............Narcissistic.

With the majority being more towards the narcissistic end.

11. Another good post in this thread. They are so self-centered that
it prohibits them from ever seeing the bulk of the connections that make life so meaningful and rich to those who are able to see and cherish the connections.

6. I always ask Republicans to name another country based on their principles that was/is successful
it shames them. They can't name one. They try to get around it by saying the US is unique but I say "true but I can name a dozen countries that I think have successfully organized in ways that I think we could emulate. Can you name one? One country that has laws and tax codes and social policies that you want/like that has survived? That has flourished?"

They can't name one. If they do, you can always point holes in it. "Oh, but that country allows abortion or has health care or has not freedom of speech" or whatever.

Try it. It's my favorite "shut up a republican" question.
