I encourage you to read the whole brief.

January 2010
But the fact remains that other results documented in the assessment by Education Week in Florida’s latest ranking aren’t superlative. They are, rather, deeply disturbing.

Three grades included in the report make the case:

Student achievement (scores on national standardized tests): D-minus.
Funding per student (compared to the national average): F.
College readiness: F.

The assessment notes that Florida’s high-school graduation rate is 45th in the country and that the state ranks below the national average in the percentage of young adults with a degree or enrolled in college. Furthermore, studies conducted by Florida’s officials have found that more than half of students entering two-year or four-year colleges in Florida require remediation in mathematics, reading, and/or writing.

1. If by champion of school reform Obama means
Schools do worse and teachers suffer -- then yes.

11. It put a fine point on what Bill Gates and Secretary Arne Duncan were doing
I had no idea that their "message" was about (presumably) poor teachers.

9. Im ashamed of you President Obama.
While teachers are fighting for the rights of workers everywhere, you put yourself beside a man whose backing interests have no love of teachers or unions. Shame on you. I find myself less and less willing to defend your actions, and have to ask myself "Are you really this out of touch with my values?" and I think I am slowly coming to the conclusion, that yes, you are.

10. That "Education Week" report so highly touted by Jeb Bush's lead operative is laughable.

Scroll down a bit here.

How on God's green earth, Obama legitimizes this disgusting farce labeling himself *The Education Governor*, who forced Florida down into the ditch for 8 interminable, back-biting years and continues the assault today, is beyond my understanding.
