AFL-CIO Plans Another Big Saturday Rally At Wisconsin Capitol

The protesters aren't done in Wisconsin -- far from it.

The AFL-CIO is organizing yet another Saturday rally at the state Capitol in Madison. This follows the mega-protests that occurred the past two weekends, which each attracted many tens of thousands of people in opposition to Gov. Scott Walker's budget proposal and its anti-public employee union provisions.

(end snip)

Put on your walkin' shoes, Mr. President. If you can't find them, I will send you a pair...of walkin' shoes. But, I guess that wasn't in the deal, was it, O?

Edited to add:

Why do I think the President should show support?

1. He made a campaign promise he would walk with union workers.
2. I think it has already been established that this is a hugely successful grassroots movement
3. Showing support for the workers in Madison does not have to be in Madison, which I agree would be
huge distraction wherever he goes. Last weekend we had many rallies in other cities.
4. He needs to acknowledge the workers. The governor has already jumped the shark. It
would not be seen as interference at this point.

But, this is my opinion only.

1. Frankly, I don't want him there. It would just detract from what is a ....
...genuine grass roots movement.

3. How could having the President publicly backing the workers detract from our cause?

He is the most influential Democrat in America and his support would have great meaning, just as his complete lack of support does now.

9. It is now Walker vs. the working people.
We don't want it to shift to Walker vs. Obama! That's what THEY want.

11. You want the MSM yelling "Obama vs. Democracy"? This is our fight....
...and I'm no longer sure he's even on our side.

5. why should the President be there?
It would destroy the authenticity of this rebellion. Spontaneous individual awakening. Not a bunch of lemmings following a leader.

6. Marching is so pedestrian.

and not all leaders lead best at the front of a column of marchers.

Obama is a tremendous orator when he turns it on. I'd just like a bit of that energetic hope inspiring oratory that he showed so well in Denver.

How hard would it be for him as a wordsmith is to say something inspiring and history making?

Something that might touch these themes: How these are tough times and as a nation we must find in our better natures the ability to construct and implement _economic_ solutions that MUST ask that those who are standing to help those who have been knocked off their feet? How the solution to current work recession does not lie in Americans abandoning Americans through attacks on American Institutions that grew us into a kind and caring people; 'The Solution' it lies in Americans helping Americans as the economy bridges its way to better times...We did this before, WE can do this again!

10. You mean the "ralliers" or "demonstrators". Not "protesters".
When there's a protest in wisconsin, please let me know.
I don't see anything being protested.
