9/11 Health Bill Put GOP in a Corner Politically
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 02:02 PM by Still a Democrat
It made the Republicans choose between cooperating with the party of evil in the eyes of their teabagger constituency, or opposing an overwhelmingly popular and just bill.

1. So you believe this was strategy all along?
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 02:12 PM by Earth_First
This should have NEVER become an issue of wrangling votes and trading deals over tax breaks...

That you support that this was a quiet 'strategy' on behalf of the Democrats makes me angry!

2. Edited for more accurate title
I believe Democrats would have supported it and should have supported it, regardless of the political consequences. I am just delighted it tied the GOP in knots.

3. Fuck that! Just pass the damn thing and do what should have been done a long time ago!!!
I think the 9/11 rhetoric is almost universally lame and seldom used for anything but political points, but this is a serious case of people who didn't give a shit about labels or anything about the event other than doing their jobs - getting people out of a burning building. The GOP should be paying these people ROYALTIES given how many times they've used "9/11" as a political buzz word. The only reason they don't support the bill is because it would be another feather in Obama's cap. Where the hell was the shrub for seven years? I know, I know - too drunk to worry about those people. They're acting like someone who was just pulled to safety from the ocean and promptly turns around and kicks the rescuer into the water.

It just needs to pass.
