Won't make a dime's worth of difference...
An old saying which means about the same as pissing in the wind, which is what I may be doing here, but bear with me a moment while I preach to the choir so I can gather my thoughts.

There is so much to be done on so many fronts, it's hard to track, but since we seem to be in the midst of the perennial budget battle I've gotten the notion that we need to put into concrete terms of what is acceptable in this year of the knife.

A dime. Our least of coins in size, yet for every dime taken from supporting the elderly, the poor, the maintenance of infrastructure, education, environmental protections, medical research, to name a few. These dimes stimulate the economy into $0.17 of activity.

I want a dollar cut from bombs, delivery platforms, outsourcing jobs in the military that used to provide soldiers with real experience that were taken to the real world. Oh, and while we're at it put a rider in that anyone who pulls shit like this is summarily dismissed from service with all pensions due invalidated.

I want a dollar from the subsidies to corporations who render Nature inhospitable and raise her ire upon humankind with no penalty.

Damn it! I want a dollar cut!

For. Every. Fucking. Dime.

I think I'm being generous here, but that's what I want. There is a study, I know there's always a study, that measures what average people want to do with the budget.

What say you? Can we get the For Every Dime meme going?

4. Most military spending is dead end spending in that it does not
generate jobs (troops excepted) one it is manufactured UNLESS we have a war. Money spent in the domestic sector is just the opposite. If you pay a janitor to clean a room or a laborer to manufacture a needed item for daily use that ripple effects radiate out all around us. This was clear already in the 60s but as usual no one seems to have heard the message.
