My cable goes through the FOX channel. Do they get "viewers" because of that |
|
I have Comcast and I just noticed, every time I turn on my cable it goes through the Fox Channel 3 (even though FOX is channel 12 here). I wonder if, every time I turn on my cable, Fox gets credit that I viewed their station before it changes over to the channel I have it set on.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were being that sleazy!! Any cable-files know the answer?

|
Actually, Roger has several anal implants and he's named them - O'Reilly, Beckkk, Hannity, Coulter, ...

5. My pleasure. My box stays on all the time, because we use |
|
the DVR in it. So, when we turn on the TV, it returns to whatever channel was on when we turned off the TV. I use the Favorite button to jump to, well, my favorite channel.

6. Apparently ratings are still obtained the old fashioned way... |

A company called Nielson randomly selects people to participate and log what they watch through a electronic box that they hook up to their tv.

7. So they say....at least for sales of advertising but don't you think Comcast |
|
pretty much knows every single minute you spend on any given channel?
It would go against their business ethic NOT to get all that info!

8. I have dishnet. receiver so I know what u mean. I would be very surprised |
|
if it didn't log every minute. It even phones home once a day and they charge you 5$ a mo if you dont leave it hooked to a phone line. But when I casually asked their csrs, they swear that they dont.
The thing with the providers is they dont really know who we are. Our demographics. Well maybe they have some general stats on the area but they never asked me to fill out a questionaire. Advertisers are interested in more than just how many viewers, they want to know who.
