New Michigan Gov wants to reduce the wage and benefit cost of public employees
Gov.-elect Rick Snyder said Tuesday that he plans a blitzkrieg-style offensive, much of it aimed at what he regards as public-sector overspending, in the first weeks of his administration in a bid to get Michigan working and growing again.

Snyder, in an interview with the Free Press, said too many attempts to reform government have been piecemeal and incremental.

"The goal here isn't to do incremental changes. That's just a waste of time," he said.

Snyder said he wants to come up with "a structurally sound answer" to reduce the wage and benefit cost of public employees "that may require a shorter-term, larger sacrifice" but will lead to longer-term prosperity for all of the state's residents.

1. I presume he'll be starting with his own salary and benefits.

2. And of course, our intrepid reporter asked the Gov.
If he would lead by example and slash his own salary first, right?? Of course, this line just tears it:

Government at all levels "is an expense to the economy," Snyder said. "We're taking more than we should because our costs are out of line." Private-sector companies and workers have made many sacrifices, he said, "and we all need to share in this. So it's now the public sector coming into more alignment with what the private sector has already done."

Wow...Just wow...

3. Is Gov. Snyder familiar with the concept of collective bargaining?
Because if he's not, he soon will be. THIS is why it's good to have a union.
