Check out what blm asked on DU in 2003...
Anyone have info on Bush and the Koch brothers or Koch Industries?

So. Who's ahead of the game? Corporate McPravda or DU?

24. Indeed.
All shades of leftist opinion get trotted out here and kicked around. The vitality of the place is amazing, and I think the frequent acrimony is a necessary byproduct of clashing ideas and information.

34. Just think
This is what RWs get paid millions to do, sit around and yap like this.

Even scarier is places like 4chan are think tanks, if you watch and study the ebb and flows of busy forums you can throw out an idea and have a bunch of people kick it around for free. Now if only I could turn that idea into real money, instead of getting funnier lolcats out of it.

29. The Rightwing Koch Bros. Financed the DLC --- !!!
was marshalled under rightwing billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife for his Get-Clinton campaign. Prior to the work of Conason and Lyons, Russ Bellant extensively documented in "The Coors Connection" how the Coors Family, Scaife and other wealthy rightwingers have funded the New Right movement since the early '70's. Among these rightwing benefactors are the Koch brothers. But the Kochs have been working both sides of the fence. As Bill Berkowitz writes,

the Koch brothers have also been funding the Democratic Leadership Council.

Edited on Sat Mar-05-11 05:11 PM by RandomThoughts
The game metaphor is used to break empathy. It is a fine tuned delusion many are under.

And not enough information for comparison, since that would first need definition of winning.

What do you mean by information?

Bush41 said that 'people don't know the half of it' Although I don't think he was thinking of Derek Halfhand.

You can also see the concept mentioned in some songs, but the versions of songs on YouTube have been being removed. I fervently hope that creates an observable muzzle flash for big mo to take care of. Most likely changed searches also. But if that is true, then why would I think anyone reads this LOL

13. Koch nastiness goes back to the 1990's
Some here may remember the name of Triad Management Services, which paid over $5 million for attack ads and get-out-the-vote efforts on behalf of Republican candidates during the 1996 elections. The money came from wealthy donors but and funded through a variety of tax-exempt groups, in apparent violation of prohibitions on political activities by such groups. In 1997, Democrats on the Senate Government Affairs Committee unearthed evidence of improprieties in Triad's activities and had scheduled hearings, but these were canceled by the Republican majority on the committee.

According to one website that no longer seems to be operative, "Ben Ginsberg, a former general counsel of the RNC, represented secret trusts that also contributed to Triad groups. The Koch family, which owned the Kansas-based Koch Industries, gave heavily to tax-exempt groups linked to Triad, using one of the trusts represented by Ginsberg. Senate investigators sent Charles Koch a letter in October 1997, asking to speak with him about their inquiry, but he has failed to respond. According to FEC records Koch brothers and Koch PAC contributed directly to more than a dozen of the candidates supported by three tax-exempt groups they had funded."

Ben Ginsburg has since served as Bush-Cheney national counsel in 2000 and 2004, represented Norm Coleman's campaign, and is counsel to the Republican Governor's Association. He has also been involved such major GOP fund-raising entities as Gail Norton's CREA, the Swiftboat Veterans, Move America Forward, and the American Majority Project.

Move America Forward is particularly interesting as the precursor to one of the more astroturf-y Tea Party groups. See, for example, this DU thread from 2005 about their harassment of Cindy Sheehan. Posters on that thread were suggesting that it was all part of one big, nasty Republican infrastructure, and I think events have only served to confirm that. All that's new is that the Kochs are more front and center.

Thanks so much for this info. Only reinforces my opinions with reinforced steel. I have a question (squeamish maybe to some of you). How much did the DLC support Obama? Either with funds, moral support, and did that start in the primary? I don't know where to go to find these answers.

43. I don't have the answer on DLC/Obama direct connection - but Obama's playbook sure looks like
it was written by the DLC. Someone else will have to connect those dots - but I can tell you that I did the research on DLC attacking Social Security (and wouldn't be surprised if that originated with the good brothers Koch):

50. Since Gaulieter/Gov. Walker stated he "had considered" using contracted "operatives" when he was
under the impression he was speaking with Mr. Koch one of his Wisconsin Republican Senators (who "alledgedly" represents me) is going to have to answer (hopefuly) an e-mail that I've been circulating with the help of many supportive people that does, in fact, concern the type of people and their networks that these billionaires employ to eliminate dissidents.

For the record, one of the Fab 14 has recieved this material.

It's liberating, to say the least, when "conspiracy theories" are exposed as obstruction of justice and ongoing criminal conspiracies by we, the wee small people.

55. Republican State Senator Dan Kapanke was bombarded with Koch related
questions at the Vernon County Courthouse this morning. He acknowledged receiving copies of the e-mail and pictures of a real operative (a murderer and human trafficker) that I've been sending out with the help of my elected officials that want to simply determine if this man is alive or dead.

One of the Fab 14, Democratic State Senator Dave Hanson has also received this electronic material, as have many others. It was good to see so many people that are aware of this supporting our efforts.

Scott Walker more than likely did more than "consider" contracting operatives and provocateurs (like the operative I've been researching openly)-it doesn't work when the cat is out of the bag!!!

Senator Kapanke didn't take my question-but a lot of people spoke about the fact that we are going to recall vote him out of office and that we know about the fanaticism of Koch et al.

Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 05:47 PM by bobthedrummer

I can't imagine what kind of operatives Walker would "consider" "using" let alone the "assets" available to Dave Koch et.al. today.

Sorry about the misspelling Dave.
