in support of the TN Ed Assoc. (the REAL TEA per a sign I saw :)) in TERRIBLE weather, in this pretty apathetic city, in this deep red state. If the weather had cooperated, there would have been twice as many, I'm convinced. Heavy to moderate rain all day long, BUT WE REPRESENTED. In red for our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin.

The other guys showed up, if you can call it that. They had maybe 70 people, at MOST.

As an aside, I bought a copy of The Militant, the SWP paper. I hadn't seen one since the 70s. Very nostolgic and VERY good to see they are still around.

I'm guessing the local media found something else to cover all day today. Let us know if I'm wrong, because it seems that a couple thousand really, truly, honestly people out in bad weather would be a compelling visual.

on line edition. I haven't looked at the local TV. Unless there's a tornado warning, they're pretty useless, IMO.

The Tennessean on line estimated 3k for the pro union crowd and it WAS bad weather. I'm just getting over a cold (after today I HOPE I'm still getting over it) and I feel pretty crappy now, but I had to represent. This shit is IMPORTANT!

6. Well the Tennessean on line actually DID put their...........

numbers at "over 100". I KNOW there weren't over 100 of them when I was there and a buddy of mine who had been there all morning said he actually COUNTED them at 70 or so.

In the Tennessean's defense, they DID estimate the pro union crowd higher than I did. OTOH, I UNDERestimated what I really thought it was BECAUSE I expected the underestimation BY the media. Weird the way that works. :)
