Student grilled over suspicious T-shirt
Student grilled over suspicious T-shirt

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 5 (UPI) -- A Florida high school student was questioned by authorities for wearing a T-shirt they found threatening.

The unidentified boy at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres wore a T-shirt Wednesday reading, "A friend will help you move, but a real friend will help you move a body," a Lee County sheriff's report stated.

School officials searched his belongings and found written in his notebook: "What to write about. Doodles, I've been doodling a lot lately. I enjoy it a lot more than I used to. Maybe it's because I have more boring teachers. I could create something really amazing with them. I just need more research on the school, cafeteria, homeroom, math, main stairwell and front of school."

The boy told a deputy, "I just find it to be funny and I like the humor in the message. ... I was just free writing," the Naples News reported.

1. Sounds like he's at the planning stage of something
or desperately wants attention (by sounding dangerous). It might just be bravado, but I find it concerning too.

4. It is a well known saying, t-shirts, bumper stickers, it is...well funny
When did America become so afraid of everything? Oh yeah - when the corporations realized that selling fear makes them money and helps them control people.

5. He's a kid. Maybe we should investigate Stephen King for HIS imaginings.

Please do not cite "Columbine"; there is no arsenal here.

6. You are on to something. King's work could influence others. Second Hand reading
If we can the show that someone reading a book could in some way harm others, or cost us more in health insurance, then we will certainly be totally justified in controlling it more and banning it (cause freedom is scary and dangerous).

10. Um, it sounds like he was planning to draw on the walls.
Unless "doodle" means, "kill everyone with a high-capacity magazine handgun," which I'm pretty sure it does not.

15. I think you're right.
And the police must have agreed with him that he had no intent to harm anyone, as they simply sent him back to class. No mention of any charges being filed, or further action being considered.

Yet the school gave the contents of his notebook to the media. That doesn't sit right with me.

13. If anything, this should have cured him of any rightward/authoritarian leanings.
Another one for our team... in FL, no less.

Those Republicrats really need to get that stick out of their collective ass.
