TYLER, TX (KYTX) - A bill in the Texas Senate is proposing to tax every ounce of soda and many other drinks you purchase at retail stores and in restaurants.
Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. of Brownsville has introduced a bill that adds a tax of one penny per ounce to beverages sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners. Lucio said it could generate $2 billion a year in revenue and reduce obesity levels.
"I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper," Jacksonville resident Melissa Spikes said. "I'm a good ol' Texas gal, love my Dr. Pepper."
Spikes doesn't go a day without getting a fix of her favorite soda.
http://www.cbs19.tv/Global/story.asp?S=14196124We should also triple the gas tax (spewing toxins, killing the planet), any food purchase that has over 300 calories, foods with a high carb content, and books over a certain amount of pages (Carrying them can lead to back injuries, might cost us money).
Birth tax - if you exist, you will eventually get sick. That's a tax'in.
If we can just be like the pilgrims and others we can control social norms, herd people into our ways, stop the sinners while still loving them, and bring our brand of faith to those ignorant savages who think freedom is something good.
Diversity is hurting this country, there are too many variables, hard to control.
Let's work together to fix the broken souls who are only hurting themselves and pissing off our god (money and controlling costs).
