Shocking: Uncut Gets Koch's Americans For Prosperity to Say Corporations Should Pay Taxes
Shocking: Uncut Gets Koch's Americans For Prosperity to Say Corporations Should Pay Taxes

When Ryan Clayton, spokesperson for U.S Uncut, found himself backstage at "The Big Picture" with Americans For Prosperity's Phil Kerpen, Clayton exacted a shocking statement from Kerpen: "Of course, I agree with you, corporations should pay their taxes. I am not in favor of tax deadbeats."

Uncut is the organization that organized last weekend's protests against Bank of America for failing to pay a single dollar in federal corporate income tax in 2009 -- a year in which the bank made more than $4 billion -- and then went on to receive a $2.3 million bailout, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer (that would be you).

While covering the Tea Party Patriots' recent strategy conference in Phoenix, Lee Fang of Think Progress asked two Tea Party-allied Republican congressmen, Trent Franks and Jeff Flake of Arizona, if they supported Uncut's message that, like Bank of America, CitiGroup should be made to pay U.S. taxes. After some prodding, Franks demurred that CitiGroup had "broken the law." (Flake said he'd have to check Fang's data before he could make a comment.)

Uncut is touting these "gotcha" interviews as proof that left and right concur on the need for corporations to pay taxes, citing in a release an outright endorsement of Uncut's message by Justin Ruben, executive director of MoveOn.

1. corporations are people, right
and people with certain incomes pay certain tax rates, right?
then corporations should pay the same tax rates as individuals if they have the same rights, right?

2. He probably means they should pay the taxes after they've milked all the breaks.
The only way to stop this is to wipe out all the tax breaks and start over.
