Broadway actor blasts director of Spider-Man musical
Adam Pascal posted on Facebook: "They should put Julie Taymor in jail for assault!"
He also said Taymor and stars Bono and David Howell Evans should be sued
He later recanted the comments, saying he was only making a point
Actor listed in serious condition after falling during Monday's performance
New York (CNN) -- Broadway actor Adam Pascal has called for the prosecution of the director of the musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" after a series of accidents, including the hospitalization of an actor who fell at least 20 feet during Monday night's performance.

"They should put Julie Taymor in jail for assault!" Pascal posted on the internet site Facebook.

He also called for lawsuits against Taymor and others invested in the production like musical stars Bono and David Howell Evans.

Pascal later recanted the comments, saying "I think some of you missed the intended humor in my post, although my anger is real, I don't think anyone should sue Bono and the Edge you dummy! Or put Julie Taymor in jail you double dummy. I was making a point."

1. I just want to know one thing: Why the hell IS there a "Spider Man musical" on broadway?
Did they run out of quality material?

Leave that shit to the movie studios.

2. It sounds like this should have been staged in Las Vegas ....
like the Cirque Du Soleil spectaculars. Doing it relatively on the "cheap" and "speedy" on Broadway with musical actors rather than physically trained performers just seems way too dangerous.

3. Just a hunch
but I'm guessing Adam Pascal will never be cast in a Julie Taymor production in this lifetime.

4. THE MOST EXPENSIVE SHOW EVER PRODUCED ON BROADWAY!!!!
Edited on Wed Dec-22-10 04:13 PM by BrklynLiberal
fail after fail after fail. Sad...for those injured, as well as those dupes who invested.
http://www.kgbanswers.com/how-much-did-spiderman-on-broadway-cost-to-make/7561949
Spiderman on Broadway has a 41-member cast, 18 orchestra members & aerial stunts that shoot actors up to 40mph through the air over the audience. Cost?
$65,000,000 to produce.

It costs over $1,000,00 to run each week.

Sounds almost like a "Producers" type of scam.

Think anyone will be able to afford the tickets???????

14. This morning I read somewhere
that they will have to sell out every show for the next seven years just to break even with what they've spent so far.

Even if they can get this production on its feet, I doubt it'll last six months. If they haven't done it now, it probably can't be done.

People will be afraid to sit in the audience for fear a cast member will fall on them (lol).

12. Didn't Family Guy or the Simpsons cover that?
I remember a bit of their singing, "Dr. Zaius," to the tune of Amadeus.

11. This occurred to me as I was watching 60 Minutes.

When I saw the 60 Minutes article on the Spiderman play and all the aerial stuntwork involved each and
every night I wondered how many performers were going to be killed or crippled before the show folded.

15. I did hear some of the music
that Bono and The Edge wrote for it, and it was pretty good. Other than that, this might be a giant boodoggle for them.

People are getting injured for this thing???

No. This is ridiculous.

I could rent one of the Spiderman films and play some U2 music in the backround. Same damn thing.

18. Making a point? Actors....
Point is the person responsible for this accident is the rigger. Not the director or the songwriter. Even if a director tells a rigger to do something unsafe it's the riggers job to tell the director to piss off.
