The Wisconsin 14
I keep hearing about how the 14 Wisconsin senators are not doing their jobs and should be fired/recalled. For all you people who are saying that or agree with it, perhaps you can tell me and the rest of the world exactly what the job is that they are failing to do? Here's a clue: they are legislators. That means they create legislation. It should go without saying, but apparently I have to say it anyway, that any legislation they create should benefit the people of Wisconsin. It should not harm the people of Wisconsin and it should not enrich the Koch brothers or any other wealthy parasites looking to cash in on Wisconsin assets.
It should also be obvious that creating good legislation involves working to prevent bad legislation. This is the part of the legislative process where debate, negotiation, and compromise often come in. In the present situation, where the 19 republican senators seem to have had their lips surgically grafted to Scott Walker's ass, the only option they have for preventing bad legislation is to prevent it from being voted on. And, as we all know, the only way they can prevent a vote on it is to be absent and prevent the 19 republicans from ramming the bill through.
That's the long, explanatory version. For all the teabaggers, republicans, and other assorted idiots out there, here it is in terms so simple, even you can understand it...maybe.
1.The senators' job is to create legislation that is beneficial to Wisconsinites and fight against legislation that is harmful to Wisconsinites.
2.The Budget Repair Bill is extremely harmful to Wisconsinites and extremely beneficial to rich special interest groups and individuals.
3.The only avenue the senators have to fight the bad legislation is to stay away from the Senate session and prevent the bill from becoming law.
So, for those of you who have more than two or three functioning brain cells, here are the conclusions drawn from 1, 2, and 3: The 14 senators ARE, in fact, doing their job. The 14 senators ARE NOT running away from problems. The 14 senators ARE NOT hiding out in Illinois to make a point. If you would stop believing the TV ads, which are nothing more than lies paid for by the Koch brothers' front groups, you might actually learn what Walker is trying to do to Wisconsin.

Let's look at this another way. Suppose Scott Walker presented a bill that took everyone's money and gave it to himself and the republicans in the legislature. Crazy? Sure, but then again, so is he. And we've already seen how willing the republicans in the legislature are to go against what he wants. Would you not want the 14 senators to block that law until a solution was found? I can't help thinking that if the above scenario occurred, you would be down there in Illinois with the senators, making sure that Walker couldn't somehow kidnap them and return them to the Senate.

So, if you don't mind, the next time you feel the need to lie about the senators not doing their job, just shut the fuck up.

1. I don't think anyone here is making the claim that the
senators are not doing their job.

4. Milwaukeel tv ads are attacking them for not doing there jobs, as is Ms. Palin.
Also, the people who are organizing recall movements against them are saying the same lies.

3. Grab a clue before you start lecturing us: NO ONE at DU is saying any such fucking thing.
If you're addressing others maybe you ought to consider making that clear.

5. Speaking of clues, check the second sentence. Actually, my complaint

is directed at those who say they aren't doing their jobs. I thought it a good idea to post and let any trolls/lurkers know that the job lie wasn't working.

7. I think you meant to post this over at the place that must not be named
here, you're just preaching to the choir.

9. True, but based on some of the replies above, the choir is unaware of what's
going on in WI. At almost every commercial break, there is at least one attack ad with one of those smarmy voice-overs repeating the things I mentioned in the OP. Yes, the main issue is labor rights. But if we let that distract us from the other nastiness in the bill, and let them sway public opinion with attack ads that outnumber the support ads by about 10 to 1,I fear everything the protesters and senators have done so far, will just fade away.
