World-Herald cartoonist Jeff Koterba mailed a package Friday, a package that illustrates his rare gift for touching hearts with his pen.
It was addressed to the family of Christina Taylor Green, the youngest victim of the Arizona shooting rampage, who became a national symbol of lost innocence in its aftermath.
The package contained two originals and eight copies of his Jan. 16 cartoon depicting 9-year-old Christina in heaven meeting a New York City firefighter.
Christina's uncle Doug Green contacted Koterba last month and requested copies of the cartoon for framing. Green called it “amazing.”

Koterba had known from news reports that tragedy had marked the beginning of Christina's life, too. She was born Sept. 11, 2001. He didn't know until hearing from the family that Christina's mom is from New York City and that one of her aunts is a firefighter.
At the time of Christina's death, she was brimming with excitement over her election to her school's student council. Her interest in politics took her to the strip mall to meet U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
