THIS IS NOTING MORE THAN the Murdoch Street Journal, et al,
TRYING to take the heat off of their boy, Walker, and put it on the WI 14.

Wall St. Journal, CNN lie, WI 14 staying put

The Murdoch sheet's up with a story misquoting Wisconsin Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller to the effect that the Band on the Run of 14 are on the verge of a return to the state where they'd provide the quorum needed for the Republican majority to pass the odious budget reconciliation that's been at the heart of the ongoing battle.

here's the rebuttal, from my Assembly Rep. Mark Pocan's Facebook feed...

Hey FB Friends, there is a new article out in the Wall Street Journal misquoting Sen. Mark Miller, saying the Senators are coming back. Yes, they are coming back EVENTUALLY. However, in no way are they intending to come right back. I talked to Mark's office tonight. That's not to say they don't need our support; they do. But they are strong. Make sure the misinformation doesn't circulate please.

Sen. Jon Erpenbach's Facebook status

"Here's the deal... The fact is Mark Miller's comments were taken out of context. He was saying we will be coming home at some point. When that is is unclear and not completely up to the 14 of us. Again... we are committed to remaining in Illinois for the foreseeable future. We will continue to reach out in order to try and find compromise.

1. k&r. . . When the "liberal Media" gets something so basic, SO WRONG,
it is absolutely critical that we online make as much noise as possible.

There is just no comparable noise machine counterbalance when CorpoMedia© goes balls out in the support of a lie.

4. MSNBC just reported that one WI Democrat
said it was conceivable the 14 would be returning to vote. I hope that's not true.

7. Chill... it isn't entirely "BS".

It's evidence that the 14 are not all of one mind re: how to spin the right story, but the reality is easy enough to see if you look carefully.

They can't stay out forever and they've started to make noise laying the groundwork for a return ("noise" that positions them both within the debate and with the base that would like them to stay out for several months). The problem is that they lose any leverage (what little there is) when the other side thinks that they're coming back tomorrow. So they ALSO continue to make noise re: staying out until the governor relents on the collective bargaining rights.

"Out of context" doesn't explain away the direct quotes.

9. "Wis. Senate Democrats to return soon, seek talk with Walker, lawmakers say"
The State Senate Democrats who left Wisconsin to block a vote on a bill that would severely curb collective bargaining for most public employees are planning to return soon, one of the lawmakers said Monday.

State Sen. Robert Jauch said the 14 Democrats are convinced that passing the measure would severely damage their Republican opponents.

...snip...

"We should be returning soon in order to provide an opportunity for a vote and to hold the Republicans responsible for their actions," Jauch said. "It will be a chance to see whether the Republicans are on the side of the people who oppose this or on the side of a governor who is out of touch with the people."
