9. They said on the news that it was the recording from the original Star Trek.
I don't know if Bill actually did a new recording...

23. They took the first line of the original series' intro voice-over
that he had originally recorded back in the '60s, and then over-dubbed his new voice-over material on the background music to create this message. It's sortof obvious that there's a beat too long of a delay between the "Space, the final frontier..." and when his new portion starts.

It was good to see him bookend the whole shuttle program. Hopefully he (and perhaps the rest of the surviving cast) will be able to do something for the last shuttle mission coming up this year. The entire cast had participated in a dedication ceremony for the http://www.nasa.gov/vision/earth/everydaylife/nasm_enterprise.html">prototype shuttle "Enterprise" that was built and tested in the late '70s in preparation for construction and deployment of the current fleet. Ironically, that shuttle was eventually incorporated back into the Star Trek canon for the 4 later series and 10 films. LOL

Wow... Nice, and an nice end to the space shuttle missions, to be waked up by the Star Trek Original series;)..

Its sad that the Space Shuttle wil be retaired, I rembember when the first one landed... I was a young kid then, but I still rembember it wel.... It was amasing then, and it is still memorable today, allmoust 30 year later..

Oh, wel, the space is still the final frontier, and we wil be back soon... With far more advanced ships than the current Space Shuttle...

12. Well said, Captain.
So good that Discovery will have a place of honor at the Smithsonian. It deserves a place along side of the Spirit of St Louis and the Bell X-1.
