I just got a call from the DNC wanting a donation for Obama.
Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 01:54 PM by county worker
I turned them down this time. I feel really let down by Obama and don't have the hope I had in 2007 and 2008 when I gave money to them. I may give next year but I just don't have the desire now.

1. Did you explain your hesitation? He needs to hear why Dems are dissatisfied.

5. Good for you. I send money to the people who actually serve my interests, regardless of
whether they officially represent me.

9. I hear you...I really wish we had strong campaign finance laws
to increase the chances of getting reps and a president who actually represent the interest of the people and not the campaign financiers.

2. The Koch Brothers Thank You
Less cash they will have to spend.

I wish I could donate, but don't have the cash now.

to a rally to support union workers tonight so I am not out of the game yet. I just don't have a good feeling about Obama today, can't tell about later.

I need to do some work in our state, the crazy republicans are in charge here and they aren't doing a damn thing but trying to kill same-sex marriage and state education.

Try more like: The Koch Brothers Thank Obama. And in more ways than one.

Make sure the credit is given where the credit is due.

10. That makes no sense.
All the Koch Brothers money goes to buy Republicans.

As you may have noticed, Republicans have been trying hard to pay them back.

19. No, all the Koch Brothers' money doesn't go to Republicans.
Between 1989 and 2020, 83% of Koch Industries Political Action Committee money went to Republicans. Between 2001 and 2010 they gave $186,598 to the Democratic Governors Association, $103,400 to the Republican Governors Association, and $150,000 to the Republican State Leadership Committee.

35. I've seen the site, individual employee donations are reported as "KOCH INDUSTRIES"
so it is not always what it seems.

Additionally we have no idea how much money they donated to American Crossroads and how much money they have put into Teabagger Front organizations.

24. they should, Obama failed to fight to increase their taxes
and has now sucked up to the Chamber of Commerce and the Bush family.

And thus Obama has done quite a bit to discourage the left and make us feel betrayed and unrepresented, helping to insure more Republican victories.

Another campaign slogan

Re-elect Obama
In the famous words of John Paul Obama "I have not yet begun to cave"

For services rendered, low and negative real interest loans, and for keeping everyone out of jail. Obama has done a superb job at that.

16. Send some money to the advocacy organization of your choice. Election integrity for example, or DU.
Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 02:18 PM by demodonkey

Instead of candidates you are lukewarm about, give to DU or to an organization fighting to make things better. Most of them are desperate for help right now.

For example many election integrity organizations fighting bad voting machines (and for voting rights) are struggling, especially the smaller groups that are working in the states and not nationally. Seems a lot of people think that because Obama won all is well with our elections so they don't donate to these organizations anymore. But our elections are NOT safe and when another funky election comes, election integrity advocacy groups are the ones that have been and will be on the front lines -- IF they still exist (which they can't do without money and support.)

38. Very good point. That's where my next donation is going. The effort
to suppress voting scares me a lot. And the compromize of the integrity of our elections. We are really doomed if we don't take action. It's very depressing.

18. no donations.
organize and surprise. get people registered and voting. make sure votes are counted and correct. have to go past Obama and elect people who will stop the madness. The Tea Party has to be counter-weighted. The government can be cut in size and that is good but not totally at the expense of the most vulnerable.
The Rights great plan has little provision for fair wages and prosperity for all. Privatization of everything will not be cheaper and it will not lead to more chose. It will lead to more Walmart type operations.

20. what i find most disturbing about this...
is that the DNC has basically gone from being an incredibly powerful voice under the management of Howard Dean...on behalf of ALL Democrats, and projecting a national vision for the party and candidates across the board...

to basically being a tool for President Obama - and him alone.

I have a very serious question, and if anyone knows the answer to this I would really appreciate an answer. What has the DNC done for the past two years on behalf of anyone but President Obama? From my own observation, it was completely silent during the mid-term elections.

Doesn't President Obama have his own campaign organization that can raise money and work on his behalf? Was it necessary to fold the DNC into his own campaign?

We NEED the DNC to be working on a national strategy to help the party as a whole, not focused on one candidate. What has become of the DNC has really made me question Obama's commitment to this party.

But okay, you were just offering a plausible reason for that, sorry for jumping on you there. :hi:

PCCC

etc.

I said there are plenty of MORE DESERVING groups who need support, especially after the LACK of support of progressive causes/initiatives by this corporatist White House.

I let it rip!
