First responders deserve what they received |
|
Now, how about the rest of us? My job was not as a firefighter, policeman, or ambulance driver in NYC on September 11, 2001. Should that mean that I do not deserve to have health care? Are my ailments less painful? Is being sick less frightening to me? Should everything I've worked for be in jeopardy if I become ill?
It's really not about me. I use the first person because I don't want to put words where they don't belong. But really, I think we all deserve the same as these responders and members of congress.
Seriously not trying to shit on this victory.

1. Yes and in a more civilized country |
|
we would not have to have these fights.
Their counterparts in Canada and Mexico haven't had these fights. Why is that? Why is it that we cannot join other nations and just have single payer?
GREED, that is why.

You cannot have a warrior nation and be caring at the same time.

8. Nah.. it's cause we're better than they are. |
|
They hate us for our freedom. They hate us for having the best health care money can buy. They hate us for the best education system in the world. Yeah we're #1....

10. It's also about the stupid |

30 years of really, really stupid voting got us to where we are.
It might be too late to fix it. The greedy have all the cards.
But they've got all the cards because stupid, selfish, short-sighted motherfuckers kept voting for more evil.
Not all of us deserve what's coming, but as a nation we do.

4. Totally agree. It's bizarre and embarrassing that it's even an issue in this country, at this time. |

5. Well, it depends on how you look at it. |

I don't want to get this thread banished to the "conspiracy theory" dungeon, but the evidence still points to a controlled demolition and the buildings were awash with asbestos and other hazardous chemicals.
I have a great deal of respect for emergency personnel in ANY capacity, but there are statistical anomalies that are way out of range for those who participated in the 9/11 event.
The issue is simple. If a Republican voted against providing them with services, then they should never again use any variation of "9/11" in any capacity, political or otherwise. They gave up that right.
As for your personal situation, I think that as a society we should provide for healthcare, salaries, and pensions for emergency personnel at all levels. Unfortunately, most are volunteer operations with little or no support.

7. When we see the final tally |
|
it will have been republicans voting against it. I think they're afraid of just what I'm advocating, single payer for 9/11 responders, congress, and us little people.

9. Oh bullshit. They don't give a fuck about you or the 9/11 responders. That's just bunk. |
|
All the Republicans want to do is vote against anything Obama wants. If they really gave a shit about the 9/11 responders they had 7 years to do it under the shrub. They didn't bother. And face it - they don't give a shit about you. You don't make more than a million dollars a year, and neither do I.
You're trash in the street - just like me and damn near everyone else in the country, INCLUDING their so-called "base".

12. I would too, but the Republicans have made it clear that their only objective is to despise us. |

I'm fortunate enough to have Senator Casey and Retiring Senator Specter. Unfortunately, I've got Santorum-II replacing Specter in January.

13. What is frightening is that we are setting up a society where... |
|
being imprisoned may be the only way some can get the health care they need, three meals each day, and a roof over their head. Frightening....Think of those uninsured and struggling to find work who have developed symptoms of something serious medically. What options are left to many people? Jail? Begging? Giving up?
