Gaddafi Resigning? Libya's Leader Offers Meeting That Could Lead To Resignation: Report
CAIRO, March 7 (Reuters) - Al Jazeera television reported on Monday that Muammar Gaddafi has proposed to Libyan rebels to hold a meeting of the country's parliament to pave the way for him to step down with certain guarantees.

The television quoted sources for the report, which it ran as a flash on its news ticker during a broadcast. It gave no further details.

It said Gaddafi proposed the meeting of the General People's Congress, or parliament, to the interim council based in the rebel-controlled city of Benghazi.

4. Better get that military intervention cranked up fast
If this is true and Khaddafi is planning his getaway, we'd better get the planes a-flying and the ships a-sailing, or there won't be any reason for the military to be there. And that would be a tragedy beyond anything we've seen in Libya.

6. why?
If he's going to step down, why should there be military intervention? Promoting a little 'shock doctorine'?

7. Have you not noticed the extreme
reluctance for military action. On twitter there are Libyans calling out Obama for dragging his feet on a NFZ.

The Libyans are calling for a NFZ, but it won't happen because it is opposed by Russia and China.

Miltary intervention will not happen because of that.

But saber rattling could be quite effective.

9. The gist: Opposition interim council rejects Gaddafi offer...
"Al Jazeera said sources from the rebel interim council told its correspondent in Benghazi that the offer was rejected because it would have amounted to an "honorable" exit for Gaddafi and would offend his victims."
