Rep. Waxman: GOP the 'party of science deniers'
Dem: GOP the 'party of science deniers'
By Andrew Restuccia - 03/07/11 11:12 AM ET

The Republican Party is the “party of science deniers,” a top House Democrat said Monday.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), an ardent proponent of climate-change legislation, criticized Republicans for their attempts to block the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating greenhouse gas emissions during a speech at the Center for American Progress Monday.

“I’ve never been in a Congress where there was such an overwhelming disconnect between science and policy,” Waxman, the former chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said.

“Republicans in Congress have become the party of science deniers, and that is profoundly dangerous,” he said.

Waxman lamented the growing divide between liberal Democrats and Republicans on climate change, accusing the GOP of ignoring the consensus among scientists that human activity is contributing to warming.

3. Waxman tells it like it is: Republicans = Deniers
How much more clear can it be? There is peer reviewed science proving a connection between the warming of the planet and the activities of humans. Then there are Republicans who stick their fingers in their ears and yell "La La La La La La, I can't here you!"

5. creating their own reality is a major part of their objective
you had people the really believe reality is whatever they tell you it is. The was one of Dick Cheney's basic political philosophies. Is it any surprise when science produces results not to their liking they can so easily deny it. Most of them really believe thinking makes it so. I works in getting elected and getting ratings on fox. It doesn't work so well as a basic governing philosophy. (of course it doesn't have to because even if things get worse they tell you it's better and thus it must be true!)
