In what universe in Gov. Christie hot?
Edited on Mon Mar-07-11 08:40 PM by senseandsensibility
National poll quoted on Last Word on MSNBC just now has Christie as the "hottest" politician NATIONWIDE.
I do not understand. Even if "hot" means something else, he is not it. I didn't even think the average American knew who he was. He beat Obama and Palin in "hotness." I think something smells. Does anyone have an explanation for this? What poll are they quoting?

2. I don't understand why ppl want him to run after he went to FL during the blizzard
Did everyone forget about that already?
And the talking heads don't even mention that fact nowadays when they are talking about him.
It's like living in a parallel universe!

26. To his supporters, that was a plus
Since he was putting his family first.

I'm not quite sure what he actually has accomplished. He hasn't reduced property taxes. He refuses to fund the state's pension obligations (putting it further in the hole). He lost out on education funding because he decided to play politics with the RTT application then blames everyone but himself for it.

The only real accomplishment was cleaning house at the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission. For those not in the know, one of the commissioners at PVSC had almost all of his family working there with salaries in excess of 100k in positions such as "multimedia coordinator". Instead of going after the corruption in this and other agencies, he went after the public employees that actually do the work. For years, politicians and other well-connected individuals have used these agencies to get themselves and their friends high paying jobs (and high paying pensions). But I don't think you can't even give Christie full credit for this as the house-cleaning only came after the state-wide newspaper reported on it. Word on the street is that Mr. Christie's wife has a connection to PVSC.

6. It is nonsense.
This is all inside the beltway stuff.

My sister lives in NJ, has for years. If I called her now, I am confident that she barely knows who Christie is.

The media is trying to make him into something important because the 2012 GOP Presidential field sucks big time.

28. Alan Grayson gives me tingles :) And Bob Casey's voice makes me swoon. :)
Every time I listen to Bachmann my blood pressure goes up!
And I can't image Boehner giving anyone a 'warm feeling' other than inebriated barflies.
Giuliani- every time I see his name I think of that photo of him in a wig, makeup and a dress!
Mitch McConnell? Someone check and see if he's still breathing.
And Pelosi should get more credit than she normally does, as a woman she is a great role model for girls of the USA.

Watch out for Jon Huntsman. He's going to be like the turtle and the hare.
He'll slowly gain on all the other republicans and cross that finish line when no one expects it.

42. Matt Bai did a puff piece on him
for New York Times Magazine Sunday before last. Their cover blurb: How a no-name New Jersey governor* became a Republican superstar. Under Matt Bai's byline, *Chris Christie appears in smaller type, footnote-style.

Bai's article skipped over unflattering details like Christie's blizzard fiasco, his controversial killing of the ARC tunnel project, or his rise to political prominence via fund-raising for George W. Bush with a nudge from Karl Rove to get him into the U. S. Attorney job.

Looks like they are trying to build a self-fulfilling prophecy.
